Having thus described my invention what desire to claim and secure by Letters Pat- ,ent is:

2. A telephone transmitter comprising a cup containing granular material, a diaphragm having a stiffening rib or flange, and an electrode carried by said cup, restingintraperipherally and directly against the edges prf said flange so as to receive motion thereom.
. 3. A transmitter comprising a cup -c on. ,taining granular'material, a diaphragm hav-- ing a central stiffening rib or flange and an electrode carried by said cup resting upon the flange and receiving motion intraperipherally therethrough from said diaphragm.
4. A telephone'transmitter comprising a resistance button, an electrode carried by said button, securing means for said electrode,
said securing means forming a flange, and a diaphragm having a stiffening rib or flange directly engaging said electrode inside of said securing means. v
5. A telephone transmitter having a resistance button comprising a metal cup, an.
circular flange projectin inanother..ele'ctrode held therein by' upsetting the edges of the cup, said upset edges form in a flange, and means in engagement with 831d last named electrode inside the flange .for transmitting motion to the button.
6. A telephone transmitter having a resistance button comprising a containing cup, a platinum faced electrode held within the cup by a flange formed on the cup, a carbon electrode extending into the cup and opposing said platinum electrode, an auxiliary diaphragm supporting the carbon electrode and clamped to the cup, granular carbon in the cup-between the two electrodes, and a main diaphragm having a flange engaging theplatinum faced electrode inside the cup flange to give motion thereto.
