ELECTRIC SWITCH Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH DREWELL,
Emperor, residing at Germany, have invented control the branches of a divided circuit with a number of switches or interrupters which smaller than the number of the branches.
In certain connections which are already known there are switches whichcan operate simultaneouslyand which accordingly may be mechanically connected one with another. One part of these switches has moreover the characteristic feature that the one switchpole consists of a plurality of contacts which are insulated one from another when the switch is open, the other pole'on the contrary consisting only of one common piece. If the insulated contacts are connected when the switch-is open, shunts are. formed which are capable of disturbing the intended manner in which the switches should operate. An important object of the present invention is to remove this disturbing effect of the shunts. in all the branches of the circuit which are capable of forming shunts, said devices permitting the passage of anelectric currentin only one direction. Such a device is, for example, an electrolytic cell with an aluminium electrode, so-called valve-cell, or an arrangement in which a loose carbon contact is influenced by a polarized magnet or the like.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood reference is made to the accompanying drawing in which two connections In accordance with the present invention are shown diagrammatica 1y by way. of example in Figures 1 and 2.
Referring to Fig. 1, a and b are branching points of the circuit in which the battery f is situated, to each of which points a series of three switches, c and (1 respectively, are connected.
