FREDERICK T.. WRIGHT, OF DOUGLAS, ARIZONA TERRITORY.
. SURGICAL INSTRUMENT.
To all 'whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, FREDERICKT. WRIGHT, a citizen of Cochise and Territory of Arizona,- have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Surgical Instru-v ments, of which theI following is aspecification.-
My invention relates to certain newland useful improvements in rst aid packages, and the object of my' invention is to' providea device which can b e conveniently carried inthe pocketgand which is ,particu-v larly-adapted for the treatment of wounds in ic'ted by venomous snakes or the like. A
By my'invention. I'vhave provided a device which -is simple in construction, composed of few parts, is durable and which can be conveniently carried by' any person; at' the sametime .the device can be openedv withoutdelay..
Referring tothe drawings wherein I show the. preferred form of my invention and wherein the same part ris designated vby the same vreference numeral tive -View. of the parts'thereof separated.4
l .designates a tube which is'formed of any suitable metal, and. provided'with'a transverse .partition 2 di? viding the tube into two compartments 3 and 4. Each endjof the tube on vits 'interior-isscrew threaded as Acompartment v3. Preferably, and 'as shown,v this plug tube gestiegenen the pm g is screweddown tightly in placefofms a'tightjont,

*ily unscrewed fro'lnthe end of the tube, Secured `to the end of the' reduced portion 9 ofthe plug is a lance l1.
In the operation of my device the compartment 3 is filled with an antidote for the venom oi the particular reptile which is feared, such `for instance, for rattle snakes, as a mixture of permanganate" of potash and sulfateof: stychnine. The plug 6 is now secured in the compartment end of the tube closing the compartment and the plug 8 onwhich the lance is mountedis secured in" place in the other end. .The -device can -now be carried inthe pocket, and when a. `person is bitten the plug 8 is unscrewed from the tube and the lance used'to scarify the wound -and cause a free flow` ,of blood therefrom. The I other ,end oi the tube' is then opened,- and the, antidote4 taken out and rubbed into the wound.
While I have described what I believe .to be the.
preferred form of my invention; I desire to have it 4understood thatmanychanges may be made in the form,
construction'and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit ofvmy'inventiom What I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters therein dividing the' same into two compartmente,'of -a plug ing-a lance i-inserted" into the compartment 4 closediby said vplug, and' -a plug inserted into' and closing theend of the other compartment 'whereby the same is adapted to contain a remedy.A v
