Be it known that I, FRANZ PALLENBERG, a 'citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of Dortmund,
Fuel-Feeding Device for Furnaces, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description The present invention relates to that class of fuel tributing ring having inclined distributing surfaces is mounted to rotate below the hopper.' Some of these rings are provided with distributingsurfaces' having various angles, "5. e. the, angle of inclination differs at different points of the ring, and in this connection the fuel is very liable to take the shortest way over the distributing surface and consequently uneven distribution ensues.
The object of the present invention is to provide means for guiding the fuel properly over the said dis-' tributing surfaces, so that they shall properly fulfil the tributing ring, Fig. 3 is a cross section through the ring on line, C D of Fig. 2,-Fig. 4 is a cross section through the ring on line E F of Fig. 2, Fig. 5 is a vertical central section of a modified form of the apparatuaFig. 6

Referring first to Figs. 1 to 4:For the purposes of the present specification. the invention is described as in connection with an ordinary gas generator having I a stack of fuel. 'To the top of the generator, the supporting plate a for the feed deviee is attached. This plate is provided with an outer upwardly extending flange 0. and an inner inclined annular flange a which serve to form a water seal with the downwardly slanting flange b of the carrier plate b for the feed hopper and distributing ring 0. The latter is ,either attached to the plate b or made in one piece with the same. The plate b has an upper horizontal flange provided with ratchet teeth g in which a pawl h engages, so that the said plate b and with it the distributing ring may be turned either by hand or by any suitable driving mechanism. The annular dip formed at the top of the plate b by means of the inner vertical flange 0 forms the water seal for the downwardly extending flangen of the feed hopper l, which may also be supported on the plate a by means of suitable legs l. The hopper lis closed in the known manner by means of thei'ilpper hopper p and the cover to the same.

The interior of the hopper is provided with a series of vertically disposed inwardly projecting teeth or flanges m, while the ring 0 is provided with a top cover j in the form of a cone having spirally arranged ribs thereon as at In, which'cooperate with the ribs or teeth m of the hopper l to reduce the pieces of fuel to an uniform size, before they pass through the two crescent shaped openings of the distributing ring.
I The operation of the device is such that when the distributing ring is turned by hand or by suitable mechanism, the fuel will first be reduced to the desired size and will then pass through the outer crescent shaped opening at y to the outer parts of the cross sectional area of the fuel bed and through the enceto Figs. -1 and 3. 'Thus the fuel coming from the opening z in the distributing ring the inner parts of the fuel bed-area, so that the fueIg-will, bythe rotation of the distributing ring, be e venly distribuftd over all the cross sectional area of the bed.
