Description

tate/e i @met (Mite.
ALFRED D. Tarn, or PEEKsKlL'L, NEW YORK. Letters Patent No. 86,328, dated January 26, 1869;
n/:Pnovsn Mor-warnen.
The Schedule referred to these Letters Patent and making part pf the same.
in' the county of Westchester, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement on a Machine or Contrivance for Wringing Mops; and I do vhereby declare that the following is a full, clear,rand
exact description of the construction and operationl of vthe same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- VFigure I represents the oontrivance 0r device when attached to a comm )n pail or bucket, and closed, and Figure 2 represents the same unattached and open. The standard A is secured to the bottom of the bucket by means of screws or' bolts.
To the long post B, of the standard A, is riveted, at
i c, the bracket C, in which moves the roller D.
To the short post E, of the standard A, is hinged, at f, the bracket F, in which moves the roller G, and which is thrown backward and forward bymeansof the lever h thrust in the socket H.
The projections I I, on the .bracket O, are designed to close the space at the ends of the rollers, to prevent 'the mop running ofi' at the ends of the rollers.
Fig. 2 shows the position of the rollers when the lever is thrown back. The lever resting on the edge ofthe bucket, brings the bracket F perpendicular and in line with the post E,'leaving suiicient space between the rollers for washing the mop.
In order to dry the mop, it is placed against the roller D, the edges being kept within the projections I I. The roller G is thrown forward by raising the lever h.
In applying pressure,- the foot 'is placed on the footpiece K, which' is attached to lower part of the bucket, on the outside, and the knee is pressed against the lever. The mop is then drawn upward, coming from the rollers as dry as can be made by wringing with the hands, and by fanless exertion. What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,f"s
The combination and arrangement of the standard A, posts B audE, with the rollers G D, lever H, and bracket F, in the manner. and for the purpose herein set forth.
