Description

PATENTED JULY 9, 1907.
w. H. BOT, R. BOILER FLUE FASTENING.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 21. 1906.
By My 60 ATTORNEYS WM M1 Wm m S WITNESSES UNlTED STATES PATENT "orrron.
WILLIAM H. BOT, JR, OF GHENT, MINNESOTA.
BOILER-ELITE ras'r'nme.
Patented July 9, 1907.
Application filed May 21,1906. Serial No. 3l7,970.
To all whom it may "concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. B01, Jr., a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Ghent, in the county of Lyon and State of Minnesota, have invent- Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
. Figure 1 is a sectional view of a flue a'nd flue sheet showing" a fastening embodying my invention; and Fig. 2 illustrates a clamping ring employed.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a flue, and
-2 the flue sheet through which the flue passes; the
flue sheet at its outer side is recessed to form an annular shoulder 3 with which the outer edge of a clamp ingring 4 engages, the inner edge thereof engaging with the flue; the ring 4 is made ofyieldingmetal so thatit may be tightly clamped against the fiue and the said ring is conical as clearly indicated in Fig. 1.
Surrounding the outer end ofthe flue is a collar 5 having an annular flange 6 for engaging with the ring 4 and the said collar is provided-with perforations to receive the clamping bolts 7, the heads of which are form a tight joint, so as to prevent any possible leakage of water. i
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentz- 1. In a boiler fastening, the combination with a flu ing, the outer edge of said recess forming a shoulder and a flue extending through the flue opening, or a conical ring within the recess, the outer edge of the ringengaging the shoulder; and the inner edge engaging the flue, a collar encircling the end of the flue and resting against the the flue sheet on opposite sides of.the flue opening, bolts engaging the undercut openings and traversing the openings in the collar, and nuts engaging the bolts whereby to force the collar against the conical ring.
2. In a boiler flue fastening, the combination with a flue sheet having an annular shoulder around the due opening, a flue extended through the opening of the sheet, a collar having a flange portion, a conical ring engaging with said annular vwall and also engaging with the flue, undercut blocks secured to the due sheet, and bolts extendedi'rom said blocks through said collar.
sheet having an annular recess encircling the flue-opena flue extending through the flue opening, of a conical ring within the recess, the outer edge of the ring engaging the shoulder, and the inner edge engaging the flue, a collar encircling -the end of the flue and resting against the conicalring and nieans detachably connected with the collar and with the flue sheet for forcing said parts towards each other whereby to force the ring into close contact with the flue and with the shoulder.
4. In a boiler fastening the combination with a flue sheet having an annular recess encircling the'flue opening, the outer edge of said recess forming a shoulder and ing undercut openings detachably connected with the flue sheet on opposite sides of the flue opening, a collar encircling the end of the flue, bolts having their heads in the undercut opening's'and traversing the collar nuts engaging the bolts whereby to force-the collar toward the flue sheet, and a packing within the annular .recess and engaged by the collar.
in testimony whereof I have signed my name to this winnmu 11-301, In.
