WESLEY E. ROBBINS, OF MOUNT OLIVER BOROUGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
GAME APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 9,1907.
Application filed January 2,1907. Serial No. 350,398.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WESLEY E. Ronnms, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Mount Oliver borough, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to game apparatus, and the invcntion has for its object to provide a simple and inexpensive game which will afford considerable amusement to participants of the same.
Briefly described, my improved game apparatus comprises a suitable dial having a spinnner or indicator, and above the dial is erected a column having outwardly extending prongs or pins of different colors, to represent players of the same. In connection with the column suitable rings or players are used and the object of the game is to gradually carry these players to the top of the column, the player reaching there first winning the game.
The detail construction entering into my invention will be presently described and then specifically pointed out in the appended claims, and referring to the drawing forming part of this specification, like numerals of reference-designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the apparatus used in connection with the game, Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, Fig. 3 is a plan of rings, or players used by the participants of the game.
The apparatus of my improved game comprises a plate or board 1 having printed, painted or otherwise marked thereon a dial 2 consisting of a plurality of circumferentially arranged numbers 3 ranging from zero to 2. Centrally of the dial 2 is mounted a pin 4 and upon said pin is revolubly mounted a spinner or indicator 5.
Suitably secured upon the pin 4 is a post or column 6 preferably rectangular in cross section. The sides of the column are provided with outwardly extending pins or prongs 7, While the top of the column or post is provided with a suitable ornamentation 8.
In connection with the pins or prongs, 7, rings or players 9 are used, these rings being of four different colors to correspond to the colors of the pins or prongs 6.
For instance, the pins upon one side of the post are red, another side blue, another side White and the remaining side yellow, the rings or players 9 corresponding to these colors. The game can be participated in by two, three or four persons and each person is permitted to select one of the colors. The object of the game is for each participant to have his or her ring or player reach the -top of the column first.
When starting the game, each participant takes a ring or player the same color as the pole on his or her side of the board or plate 1. The first participant spinning the indicator 5 is the first participant to play.
Assuming that the indicator stops at the figure 1 of the dial, a participant plays his or her ring upon the first pin or prong. The next player then spins the indicator and should it indicate 2, he or she places the ring or player upon the second prong, but should it indicate 0 the participant is not entitled to place the ring on the first prong or pin. Assuming that a participant has advanced a short distance up the column or post, and he or she should spin the indicator and it indicates 0, the ring or player descends one pin or prong. It will thus be seen that the numbers 1 and 2 of the dial indicate advance or forward movement while the O represents a penalty and a descent of the column or pole. The first ring or player reaching the top wins the game. .It is obvious that the column may be provided with a plurality of sides whereby a large number of persons may participate in the game.
The game apparatus is preferably made of light and durable wood, suitably painted and ornamented.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
A game apparatus comprising .a base-board having delineated on its upper surface a circular row of numerals, a pin projecting centrally from said base-board an indicator loosely mounted on said pin, a post supported on said pin, said post having a plurality of fiat sides, a vertical row of pins projecting from each of said fiat sides, each of said rows of pins being of a different color. and a plurality of rings of different colors corresponding to the colors of said pins and adapted to be placed thereon.
In testimony whereof I :iifix my signature in the pres ence of two witnesses.
WESLEY E. ROBBINS.
