Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT I-I. SISSON, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Car Constructions, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to that class of cars constructed mainly of metal, the present improvement having refcrence to the headings of end vestibule car doors.
Figure I is a view partly in elevation and partly in vertical section taken on line II, Fig. 11, illustrating my improvement. Fig. II is a horizontal section taken on line II-II, Fig. I. Fig. III is an enlarged vertical cross section taken on line IIIIII, Fig. I. Fig. IV is a similar view to Fig. III illustrating a modification in which the doorway arch plate is made in two sections spliced together instead of a single plate.
1 designates a pair of car vestibule door posts which are of sheet metal, preferably pressed steel, and provided with rabbets 2. 3 is a door frame that is seated in the rabbets of the door posts and 4 is a door supported by said frame. No invention per se is herein claimed for the parts just described and they may be of any desired construction.
5 designates a ceiling sheet that surmounts the door posts 1 and the entire vestibule platform.
6 is an end rail of angle shape in cross section located beneath the forward end of the ceiling sheet and above the door pdsts 1, this end rail being of a shape conforming to that of the front end ofthe car vestibule.
'7 is a lintel rail of angle shape in cross section located between the door posts 1 and connected to said posts by gussets 8 (see Figs. I and III). This lintel rail has seated upon it ing sheet 5 is secured a molding 10.
11 designates an arched and flanged tie plate that is in the main of V-shape in cross section and is positioned beneath the lintel rail 7 and between the door posts 1 to which parts said plate is suitable attached.
12 designates an arched plate that is positioned between the door posts 1 and the rear portion of which is connected to the tie plate 11 by rivets or other suitable means of fastening, while the outer or forward portion of the plate extends contiguous to the door posts and is curved around the front portions of said posts and upwardly into juxtaposition with the end rail 6.
13 is a face plate that is fitted against the arched plate 12 at its front or outer side and also against the end rail 6 above the doorway between the door posts 1, rivets or other suitable means of fastening being inserted through the face plate and the arched plate, and the face plate and the end rail to unite said members.

I claim:-
1. In a car construction, the combination of vestibule door posts, a tie plate secured to said posts, and an arched plate secured to said tie plate and extending forwardly between said posts, substantially as set forth.
-2. In a car construction, the combination of vestibule door posts, a tie plate secured to said posts, an arch plate secured to said tie plate and extending forwardly between said posts, and a face plate secured to said arched plate, substantially as set forth.
3. In a car construction, the combination of vestibule door posts, a tie plate secured to said posts, an arched plate secured to said tie plate and extending between said posts, an end rail supported by said posts, and a face plate connecting said arched plate and end rail, substantially as set forth.
4. In a car construction, the combination of a pair of vestibule door posts, a lintel rail located between said posts, an arched tie plate positioned between said posts beneath said lintel rail, and an arched plate secured to said tie plate and extending forwardly between said posts, substantially as set forth.
5. In a car construction, the combination of a pair of vestibule door posts, a lintel rail located between said posts, an arched tie plate positioned between said posts beneath said lintel rail, an arched plate secured to said tie plate and extending forwardly between said posts, an end rail supported by said posts, and a face plate applied to and connecting said arched plate and end rail, substantially as set forth.
