the United- States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements .in Braiding-Machines, of which the following is a -directions to each other and wherein the threads delivered from one set oi bobhins are directed under and over thebobbins of the other set and the threads des livered therefrom to effect the braiding operation.

It has long been desired to produce, in a machine of the class to which my invention relates, a means whereby each thread delivered from one set of bobhins may be passed over and under each succeeding two bobbins of-the other set in alternate succession and between each sricceedingtwo bobbins which were passed over and under by each threads preceding thread, there-hy producing a braided fabric wherein each thread eax*- tending in one direction passed, in alternate succession, overand under each succeeding two threads extending in the reverse direction-and between each succeeding two threads which were passed over and under by its two adjacent threads.v
Fo-accomplish this is the object of my present invention; and, with this Object in view, the invention consists-in the novel construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

Rotatably mounted on the post 4 above and below the fixed Iralne 5, respectively, are two frames or supports 8 and 9. The hub of the frame 9 is provided with a bevel gear wheel 10 in mesh with a siinilar wheel ll on the inner end of the main driving shaft l2 which is journaled in bearings 13 and 14 en the bed plate l and isprovided on its outer end with the usual driving pulley l5 and the adjacent loose pulley 16.

The large gear wheel 19 is in mesh with a gear ring 20 fixed to the lower rotatable traine 9, and the small gear Wheel 18 is iu mesh with a gear ring 2l fixed to the upper rotatable frame S; to the end that when the main shaft 12 is actuated to rotate the lower frame 9, the upper lrarne 8 will, 'through the gear Wheels 19 and 18 and gear rings 2O and 2l, be rotated in the same di rection but at a slower rate of speed, due to the different diameters of said gear wheels and gear rings.
Formed on or secured to the upper frame 8 is a circular trackway 22, T-shaped in cross section, to which I is fitted a series of similarly shaped carriers 23 each of f one of a set of thread-supplying bobbins 24. Each carrier 23 projects outwardly beyond thetrackway 22 and is provided on its under side with gear teeth 25 in mesh with a series of gear wheels 26 arranged around the fixedA [rame 5 and journalcd on stud shafts projecting therefrom.
The lower frarne has axed thereto a gear ring 27 which coasts with the seri-es of geel-*wheels 26 in a manner to bodily rotate the series of carriers around 'the trackway 22 in a reverse direction to that of the lower frame 9, when power is applied to the driving shalt l2, the spaces between the carriers 23 and the gear wheels 26 being such that each carrier 23 .is in erigagenient with one ol the gear wheels at all times.
