Having thus described the invention, what I new and desire to secure by'Letters Patent. is:

A combined up and down-draft gas producer comprising a casing adapted to contain fuel, a gas chamber localed :1t appl-eximatciyY the center or' the casingr and com lnulliczliing with the interior thereof, a pipe cmnmunicai:` ingwith said chamber through which the gas escapes, and means l'or supplying air to said gas chamber; substantialiy as described.

4. ln a gas producer, a fuel chamber, a casing 16 depending from the lower end of said chamber, a body of water into which said casingextends to form a seal, and an annular member 1 7 spaced away from the inside of the casing 1G and terminating above the body of water; substautiaiiy as described.
5. In a gas producer, a fuel chamber, av casing 1G depending'l'rom the lower end of said chamber, a water seal into which said casingr 1G extends, an annular member 17 spaced away from tile casing 16 and terminating above the surface oi' the water, and air and pipes connected i'o the space between the casing 16 and member 17.
6. In a gas producer, a fuel chamber, gas and air pipes connected io the top thereof, a casing 16 depending from the lower end of saidv chamber, a water seal init`v which said casing 1G extends, an annular member 17 spaced away from the casing 1G and terminating above the surface of the water, and air and gas pipes connected to the space between the casing 16 and member 17.
7. In a gas producer, a casing adapted to receive fuel, a gas chamber located ai. approximately the center of the casing and provided with a gas escape, a' member located at they bottom of the casing and comprising two 'walls which are spaced away from each other to form a chambcr, a pipe 45 communicating with said chamber, a pipe ,18 conuuuuicating with said chamber for-supplying air or steam thereto, and a port il!) extendim,r from said chamber' to the interior of the casing; substantially as described In a gas producer, a casing adapted to receive fuel, n gas chamber located at approximately the center of the casing and provided with a gas escape, a member connected to the bottom of the casing and consisting -of two walls spaced away from each other to form a chamber, a pipe #1 5v communicating with said-chamber, a pipe 18 entering sid chamber for supplying air or steam thereto, u. pipe 11 communicating with the upper enti of the casing, and an air supply pipe entering the easing at a point intei-mediate the gas chamber and the upper end of the casing; substantially as described.
9. A gas producer having a water seal at the'bottom thereof, and a depending outside casing 1G havingair und steam openings enteringl the lower end of the producer, a.' chimney, and a connection between the chimney and said outside water seal casing; substantially as described.
