The main object of the invention is'the provision of means wherebythe mechanism is arranged for manual control by the car operato'r, 4and under such controll may be used to o erate the switch in either direction. l'
The preferred details of construction will `be describediin thefollowing specification,-

The lever 4, rod 5, and connections thereof to the switch point are supported di-' rectly upon the tie structure, being in the A event ol railway bed construction. for thev streets olf cities, concealed in any desirable form of casingy having a removable cover to permit access to the working parts.
From the construction described it will be obvious that the ear operator may, by controlling the particular rod 12 desired, operi'-l ate the'switeh in either direction without' the necessity of stop ing the car.
Having thus described the invention, what Iclaimis:
in combination with the point oi' a switch, of a leverfsuitably pivoted to a wear `late intermediate its length, a rod pivote to one vend of the lever and being in yielding engagement with the point, said rod being provided with a coil spring encircling the sameI and a iixed stop at the end and intermediate the length of therod, saidtopsholding the spring in operative position, said spring passing through an opening in the switch point and through an opening in the web of the rail, a
post angular in cross section projecting upwardly from vthe lever and positioned adjacent the opposite end thereof, and aguiding member for the lever arranged thereabove, said member being suitably secured at both sides of the lever and limiting the movement thereof.
