To all whom it may concern):
Be it known that I, PETER H. CRAVEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spokane, in the county of Spokane and State of l/Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ore-Slimers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descri tion of the invention, such as will enable ot ers skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to ore slimers, and has for an object to provide a device of the class embodying new and improved features of convenience, rapidity, economy and efficiency.
A further object of the invention is to provide an ore slimer of improved form, embodying an endless traveling table surface with improved means for supporting and op erating the moving table.
A further object of the invention is to provide a traveling endless slimer table having improved means for cleaning and washing the table.
A further object of the invention is to rovide in a device of the class a moving en less slimer table and embodying means for imparting simultaneous longitudinal movements of the table with reciprocating shaking longitudinal movements.
A further object of the invention is to provide in a device of the class a slimer table having an endless rotating movement, and a reciprocating, shaking movement, and with means for imparting a constant reciprocatory movement to the table, and means for varying the rotary speed of the table.
With these and other objects in view, the invention comprises certain other novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of arts, as will be hereinafter fully described an claimed.

In its preferred embodiment the improved slimer forming the subject-matter of this a plication comprises a frame having si e pieces and connected by cross pieces 11 1n any ap roved manner and provided at opposite en s with bearings 12 and 13 in which are respectively journaled rollers 14 and 15 forming the extreme ends of the frame. The frame is mounted upon flexible members or upright springs 16 supported from any approved and convenient form of legs or base as shown at 17, and whereby the frame, as a whole, is capable of being moved longitudinally upon its bearing springs. The frame 10 is arranged higher at one side than the other, as shown more specially in Fig. 2 and provision is made for varying the difference in the height of the respective sides in any approved manner as by means of wedgeshaped blocks 18 disposed under the frame piece 10 of the higher side and upon stringers 19 which bears directly upon the upper ends of the spring 16 upon that side.
Upon the frame and adjacent the opposite ends thereof are journaled in any approved manner shafts 20 and 21 extending transversely of the machine and parallel with the inclination of the frame and upon which are rigidly mounted sprockets 22 and 23 respectively spaced at any convenient and a proved point relative to the width of tlif frame. About the sprockets 22 and 23 is mounted to rotate an apron 24 provided with sprocket chains 25positioned for engagement upon the sprockets 22 and 23 and having upon its external surface transversely disposed slats 26. One of the shafts, as 21, is extended outwardly beyond the line of the frame and is provided upon its extremity with a sprocket 27 receiving motion through the medium of a sprocket chain 28, from the sprocket 29 rigidly mounted upon a shaft 30, journaled in any approved manner at one side of the machine.
The shaft 30 receives motion by means of a gear 31 rigidly mounted upon said shaft and inclosed within a housing 32 and engaged.

The shaft 34 is provided with a sprocket 36 receiving motion by means of the sprocket chain 37 from a sprocket 38, upon a shaft 39 mounted parallel with the shaft 34 and j ournaled in any approved manner as in the bearings 40. The shaft 39 is provided with a friction disk 41 having its plane extending transversely relative to the machine and engaged by a disk 42 mounted in guide-ways 43 and movable radially of and in contact i with the disk 41, in any approved manner, as
by means of the cranked screw 44. The friction disk 42 is mounted up on a shaft 45 and is movable longitudinally thereof,but rotary displacement is prevented in any of the usual well known manners. The shaft 45 is provided with a belt pulley 46 by which the machine is driven and extends transversely of the machine to a point adjacent the transverse center and j ournaled in any approved bearings, as 47. Upon its end adjacent the center of the machine the shaft 45 is provided with an eccentric 48 which is connected by means of a rod 49 with any convenient portion of the frame as one of the cross pieces 1 1.
Beneath the frame is mounted a tank or box 50 with rollers 51 and 52 journaled therein and extending transversely of the machine. About the frame is disposed an apron 53 forming the moving slime table and carried upon the rollers 14 and 15 and upon the upper side of the slatted apron 24 and extending downwardly under the roller 52 and over the roller 51 through the tank 50. The apron 53 is provided with a plurality of riffles 54 extending longitudinally of the machine when in operative relation, and with a plurality of transversely disposed stretehers 55 which prevent the apron from curling or wrinkling longitudinally.
To prevent a transverse accidental displacement of the apron, the slatted apron which supports the apron 53 is carried upon longitudinally extending guides 56, and the slats provided with any approved means for engaging such guides to prevent the slats moving transversely relative to said guides. To distribute the ore slime to and upon the table the distributing box 57 is extended along the upper longitudinal edge of the apron and is provided with a plurality of openings, as 58, by which the ore slime is discharged from the distributing box 57 upon the slime table adjacent its upper longitudinal edge. Beneath the lower longitudinal edge of the upper span of the slime apron is disposed areceiver or box 59 positioned to receive the ore slime, discharged from the lower edge of the apron. Adjacent the end of the frame toward which the upper span of the apron is moving is disposed a washer box 60 extending transversely of the apron and provided with a plurality of openings 61 through which water may be sprayed upon the apron, the said box being supported in any approved manner as upon the braces 62. Water may be supplied to the washer box 60 in any approved manner as by the pipe 63 controlled by valve 64, and the receiving box 59 is provided with a partition 65 forming a compartment 66 adjacent the lower end of the washer box 60 and in position to receive from the apron 53 any slime washed from the apron adjacent the box 60. The receiving box 59 is provided with a discharge spout 67 and the compartment 66 with a similar dis charge spout 68 by which the material from the said boxes is conveyed to any desired destinations.
In addition to the washer box 50 disposed beneath the frame and through which the apron 53 moved, another washer and cleaner may be provided, as shown in Patent 786,799, granted to this applicant April 1 1, 1905, and consisting of a hood 69 disposed above the apron 53 and preferably between the washer box 60 and the roller 15. As described in the said patent one edge of the hood 69, as the edge 70, is spaced slightly above the surface of the apron 53, whereas the opposite edge, as 71, bears upon and scrapes the surface of the apron. Water is admitted in the said hood in any convenient manner as through the pipe 72, and a hopper 73 is provided beneath the lower edge of the apron adjacent the lower end of the hood 69 and in position to receive washings there from, the said hood being provided with a spout 74 by means of which the washings discharged into said hopper are conveyed to any approved and desired position.
It will be understood that the application of power to pulley 46 will rotate the said pulley and its several associated gears in the directions indicated by the several arrows, to move the apron 53 in the direction indicated. The rotation of the pulley 46 will also rotate the shaft 45 and through the medium of the eccentric 48 impart a longitudinal reciprocatory movement to the frame as well as a rotary movement to the apron 53 in the di rection indicated. The ore slime is discharged from the distributing box 57, through the openings 58, upon the upper edge of the apron and flowing downwardly across the said apron is interrupted and agitated by the riffies 54, being further agitated by the reciprocatory or shaking movement of the entire frame structure and apron. The slime moves across the apron in the usual well known manner and is discharged into the receiving box 59. Such portion of the slime as has not been properly acted upon before it reaches the washer box 60 is subjected to the sprays from the opening 61, and the material so washed, flows downwardly adjacent the washer box 61 and is discharged into the compartment 66. The scraper and washer 69 next act upon the apron to scrape and wash the surface after which the apron passes through the washer box 50 and is subjected to a bath therein.
It will be understood that the washer hood 69 and the washer box 50 are not, in all cases, both necessary to the satisfactory operation of the machine and either one may be omitted from the structure.
The speed at which the apron 53 travels is regulated by means of the friction disk 42 which is moved radially relative to its interversely of engaging disk 41 as by means of the screw 44 and whereby the disk 41 and its intergeared parts are moved at a greater or less rate of speed, as found expedient.
What I claim is 1. In a device of the class described, a support, a reciprocating frame, an endless slatted apron mounted upon the frame, an endless concentrator belt carried upon the upper span of the slatted apron, slats secured transand upon the innerside of the con centrator belt, and rifides formed upon and longitudinally of the belt.
2. In a device of the class described, a support, a reciprocating frame mounted upon the support, sprockets carried by the frame, an endless slatted apron mounted upon the frame and to move upon the sprockets, an endless concentrator belt carried upon the upper span of the slatted apron, slats secured transversely of and upon the innerside of the concentrator belt, riflies formed upon and longitudinally of the belt, means to operate the slatted apron and reciprocate the frame independently of each other, and means to vary the relative speed of the apron and frame.
