Having thus described my nvei'iti'on, what I claim is: i

1.' In a binder, the combination of a troughlike support; a series of divided `rings pivotally supported therein; a cover;

and a rod having pivotal or journal portions seated in the inner ends oi the divided-ring sections, and cranked portions adapted to bear respectively against thel trough-like supportA and against Vthe cover and to lower the pivotal or journal-portions when said rod isrock'ed'or turned.

2. In `combination with a backend coverboards E, F, G, a concave vstiifening member a trouglilike ringsupp'ortiug member A; `divided rings B, having their members sepa- .rately pivoted to opposite edges oi said'supportingv member; cover H; and actuating rod," pivotally supported in the overlapping innen endsg'o'flthc ring members, provided with cranked portions aj', and operating handle g, and serving, when turned, to raise or lower the proximate inner ends of the divided rings.
