Tk ese artition plates 37 l and 38 are' e`a ch forme `by three layers'of plates 40, 4,1and 42 as shown in Figs. 9, 10, 11 and 12. The middle layer, 41 is preferably composed 'of a plurality of tongue and grooved lates as shown in Figs. 9 and 11, although t s precise construction is not necessary. The plates 38 have the middle layer 41 protrude beyond the plates 40 and 42 to form a tongue 43 which extends the thickness of the plate glass. This enssernbled :the
8 between the panes 33, 34 and .35 and the plates 38, the layers 4() and 42 abutting against these panes. The plate or partition 37 is dierent from the plate 38 in that the centrallayer 41 does not protrude beyond the layers and 42 and these two layers are beveled to it the angle to which the plate 37 is fitted. In this structure the panes 32 and 33 do not meet but are secured to the partition 37. The clamps 39 by which the partitions- 37 and 38 and glass plates 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 are secured together are similar to the clamps 12. The partition 38 is v provided with recesses 44 in the tongue 43 and an adjoining recess 45 in the layers 4() and 42. In each of the' recesses 44 and 45 rest a clamp 39. Each of these clamps comprise a strap 47 bent at right angles to its center v48 to form arallel'strips 49 and 50 which may be unite at their free ends by an ordinary bolt 51. The center part 48 is provided lwith a screw-threaded boss 52 in which is fitted an ordinary screw' 53 and on which screw is mounted the clamping cap 54 which is practically `identical with the cap 1S described above. The partitions 37 are held by similar clamps 55 which are identical with the clamps 39, exce t that the central portions 56 are bent to t the beveled edges of the layers 4() and 42 and the cap 57 is curved to it over the edges of the panes and span the space between their outer edges 58 and 459 as shown in Fig. 12.
These clamps 55 rest in i recesses 60 in the edges of the partitions 37 so that when the parts are in place, the glass 1 surfaces will be in contact and form a tighty 'oint. The parts are assembled as shown in j ig. 8 and in substantially thesame manner asthe parts shown in Figs. 1 and 6.
In the foregoing has been described certain embodiments of my invention.v It is obvi-f ous that many others may be made so that I do not regard it as limited to the structures described, but as broad enou h to cover all i' structures that come Within t e scope of the annexed claims.
What I claim is- 1. In a device of the class described, a
ting against the partition and a clamp resting a? tition with a recessed edge, two plates a ut in a' recess in said partition and holding saidl plates and partition in'iixed relation.
2. In a device of the class described, a recessed partition, a clamp iixed to said artition and extending into a recess of sai partition, plates abutting against said partition,
a cap resting against said plates and a screw connecting said cap and that part vof the clamp extending into said recess.
3. In a device ofthe class described, a partition comprised of a plurality of layers, a clamp fixed to said partition, a plurality of plates and means fo'r uniting the clamp and ates.
p 4. In a device of the class described, a partition composed of a pluralit of layers, one of said. layers having mem ers united by tongue and groove Joints, a plurality of plates, and'means vfor uniting said partltion and plates.
5. Ina device of the class described, a partition composed of a plurality of layers, a recess in the edge of said partition ada ted to receive a part of a clamp, a pluralityo plates, Y
'of said layers protruding so as to formla tongue, a clamp fixed to said partition, a plu rality of abutting plates, and means for uniting said partition and plates.
8. In a device of the .class described, a partition composed of a plurality of plates, a recess in 'an edge of said partition', a clamp vhaving a part resting in said recess,a plurality of plates, a cap and a screw connecting said clamp and cap.
