This invention relates to the type of machine disclosed in inv prior patent No.
611,559. dated February 6th. 1906, and like v the machine of said patent, the present machine is designed to receive in bulk coins of ,all denominations capable of being sepa rated by the machine and to quickly and effectually separate and deposit the same in wrappers or packages each containing a pre- -'.-deterniined number of coins, the coins of each; denomination being counted whereby theuvalue f theseparated coins may be quickly determined. p
The novelty of the present invention re sides more particularb in the mechanism for discharging, counting and packaging the separated coins and in certain novel details of construction and combinations and arrangenients of parts all as will be now de- *scrihed and pointed out particularly in the appended; claims. 1n the accompanying draw-'ings-Figure l is aperspectivev ew of the lower portion of 'a machine embodying the present improvements, certainof the parts being omitted to prevent confusion in the drawing. As a precaution against coins striking the upper edge of the gate itself the width of the gate is reduced at the end by cutting away the forward corner as shown at N in Fig. 8.

In the operation ot'the apparatus the coins are distributed to the carriers by spring pressed brushes X Fig. 2 and should it be do sired at any time to remove the receivers containing all the coins of a given batch or bulk and return the counter to zero, thelatter may be advanced by turning the knob I on the pointers, such turning movement also advancing the coinsand operating the escapement to advance the carriages containing coins to a point beyond the chute where they may be rnioved.
\Vhil'e the drawings show only two carriages and ways therefor and two coin chutes together with sections of the machine corresponding thereto, it will be understood that sections, chute, carriages andways therefor are usually provided to permit of the separation and packaging of coins ranging from dollar to pennies, but the additional arts necessary, are merely duplicates of hose shown and hence illustration of the complete machine is unnecessary and undesirable for a full and clear understanding of the present invention.
By the-provision of cams for both projecting and retracting the dischargers for the coins, not only is the noise incident to the discharge of the coins eliminated but wearon the coins is reduced and the use of a ositively acting counting mechanism IQHC ered practical without the use of special transfer mechanism.
'While the machine as shown is particularl designed for packaging coins in receivers adapted to contain but few coins it is obvious that the proportions'br number of wheels in the gear train and size of the coins maybe changed to permit the packaging of larger numbers of coins in larger receivers or bags. s
Having thus described my invention what- I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, ist- 1. In a device such as described, the combination with a substantially horizontal rotary carrier having peripherally disposed coin receptacles in its upper face, of coin dischargers working in said receptacles radially of the carrier, a cam for advancing and a cam for retracting said dischargcrs.
