Description

die Ctluite `HENRY SEI-IER, OF'NEW YORK, N. Y.
Letters Patent No. 85,539, dated Januar/ry 5, 1869.
PLAYING-TABLE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making pax-t of the same,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY SEHER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Playing-Table; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, in which drawing- Figure 1 is a vertical central section of this invention.
Figure 2 is a plan or top view thereof.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
This invention consists in the arrangement of a rev olving box, provided with one or more holes, in com# bination with a circular table, having a conical top, provided with a series of steps, some to receive pins, and some merely marked with figures, in such a manner that'a ball placed in the revolving box will, by the centrifugal force, be thrown out on the inclined surface of the circular' table, where it may strike one of the pins', or lodge on one of the steps, and that, by these means, an interesting game is obtained.
A represents a cylindrical box, the rim of which is peribrated with one or more holes, a.
The bottom of said box is provided with a central depression, b, and with a series of depressions, c, near its edge, one or more of which correspond with the holes a in the rim, while the others are marked with figures, as clearly shown in fig. 2 of the drawing.
This box is placed on a pin, d, which rises from the centre of the table B, and passes through an arched bridge, e, attached to the bottom of the box, into a central bearing, f, in said bottom, so that the box A can revolve freely on said pin.
The table B is circular, and its top is made in the form of a truncated cone, as clearly shown in fig. 1 of the drawing. l
The inclined surface of the table-top is provided with a series of steps, g, which are marked with iigures, as shown in tig. 2, and some of which serve to receive movable pins, l1, as shown in fig. 1.
The space between the steps g is occupied by a series of stationary metal pins, t. A
If the box A is revolved ou they pin d, and a ball, j, is dropped into the central depression b,this ball is, after a short time, caused to iy out by the centrifugal force, and sometimes it lodges in one ofthe depressions c of said box, while at other times it dies out through one of the holes a in the rim of the box, and strikes one or more of the movable pins h, or passes vdown over the inclined surface of the table B, and lodges in one of the steps g.
By counting the figures marked on the depressionsl c, or on the steps g, an interesting game is produced, which can be played by a number of persons.
Having 'thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The revolving box A, provided with a series 'of depressions, c, and with one or more holes, et, in combination with the table A, provided with steps g, sub-I stautially as and for the purpose set forth.
Witnesses: HENRY SEHEB.
