UNITED siriifrns PATENT OFFICE.
Plow.
Specification of IiettensV Patent.
atented April 30, 1907.
Application led November l. 1905. Serial No. 285,432.
To aJ/Z whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLIE C. Anmac- 'r0N, a citizen of the United States, residing i at lfVheelersburg, in the county of Scioto, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plows; and I do hereby declare the followinor to be a full, clear, and exact description df the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to plows.
One object is to provide a mold board for plows embodying such characteristics that it will not only turn the earth over but will pulverize the same simultaneously with the turning over of the earth.
Another object resides in the provision of an exceedingly simple, inexpensive, durable and efficient mold board provided with means for pulverizing the earth manipulated thereby.
W ith these and other objects 'in view, the present invention consists in the combination and arran ement of parts as will he hereinafter more ully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and articularly pointed out in the appended claim, it being understood that changes in the forni, preportion, size and minor details of construction, Without de arting from the spirit or sacrificing any o the advantages of the invention.
In the drawings there is shown a perspective view of my invention.
Referring now more particularly to the ac- :ompanying drawings, the reference character l designates a moldboard of the usual Lype except at the rear of the mold-board iroper. The mold board, in this instance, is if an elongated form and its rear end has its I edge peculiarly formed in that the rear edge l is thickened as at 2, the forward edge of said thickened portion being of zig-zag shape as indicated by the reference character 3. This thickened portion 2 has a series of perforations 4 formed transversely through it for the detachable reception of the teeth 4 which latter are arranged upon an incline with ref spect to the mold board and are heldin position by means of the set screws 5 Which'fwork in the corres ending perforations 5 leadin tions.
In the use of my improved mold-board it will he seen that after layers of earth are cut and thrown over in the usual manner they contact with and become pulverizcd by the 'slanting or inclined teeth 4 disposed at the rear end of the mold-board.
ifi-"hat I claim is;
A mold-board comprising a body portion having its rear end increased in thickness, said thickened portion being provided with a series of perforations formed transversely therethrough, and having a second series of perforations formed in its front face in coininunication with said transverse perforations, teeth passed through said transverse perforations, and means disposed within the second series of perforations for engagement with the teeth, to adjustahly secure the lattcr against displacement.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLIE C. ADDINGTON.
