UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' H FANNY H. STEINIGER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 30, 1907.
Application filed February 17,1906. Se ial NO- 301,592.
State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fasteners for Lacing- Terminals, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to fasteners for lacing terminals, and has for its object to provide an improved construction of the same, particularly adapted for use with gloves, that may be readily adjusted, and will firmly retain the lacing terminals in their adjusted position. This object I accomplish in the manner and by the means hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is an elevation of a glove showing my improved fastener mounted on the lacing in position to be adjusted thereon. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the fastener adjusted and in engaging position. Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective view of the fastener. Fig. 4 is a central sectional view of said fastener.
Similar numerals of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views.
In the said drawing the reference numeral 1 denotes a glove, having the lacing 2 therein, the terminals of which are engaged with my improved fastener, presently to be described,
suitable devices, such as ornamental tassels 3,
preventing the removal of said fastener. Said fastener embodies a main or front plate 4, which may be of ornamental design, as shown, and which has fixed to its rear face at one edge at the points 5 a slightly resilient tion shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, the latter is then turned over bodily upwardly to the position shown in Fig. 2, which brings the outer surface of the main plate 4 outward, and the lacing terminals. are then brought down on each side of said main plate, which action jams them in the narrowed portions between said main plate 4 and the loopplate 6 near the connecting points 5, thus firmly retaining said lacing terminals in their ad justed position. To release the lacing terminals the operation is reversed, said terminals being first drawn upward to disengage from between plates 4 and 6, and the fastener turned over downwardly to the position shown in doted lines in Fig. 1, when said fastener will be free to slide on the lacing terminals to loosen the same.
My improved device also provides for taking care of the loose ends of the lacing terminals, which I accomplish, when the device is in the fastened position shown in Fig. 2, by looping said ends oppositely and forcing them between the free end of the loop-plate 6 and the main plate 4, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. To insure their retention in this position I may provide a projection on one of the parts, shown in this instance at 8 in Fig. l, past which the ends are forced, and which will retain them against accidental displacement.
\Vhilc I have shown and described my device as applied to the lacing terminals of a glove fastening, it will be understood that the same is applicable to all forms of lacing terminals, such as in shoes, clothing, and the like.
Havin thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In combination with the terminals of a lacing, a fastening consisting of a main plate and a loop-plate attached together at one edge at a slight angle to each other to form jam openings therebctwcen, said lacing terminals passing through the aperture in said loop-plate.
2. The combination with the terminals of a lacing, a fastening consisting of a main plate, and a loop-plate attached thereto on one side and at one edge, the two forming In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set am-openings therebetween, sald terminals my hand 1n the presence of two subscribing belng shdably but permanently engaged with wltnesses.
said loop-plate and adapted to be forced into F ANN Y H. STEIN IGER. said jam-openings to maintain a fixed rela- Vitnesses: tion between said terminals and said fasten- SIMON STEINIGER,
