Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. CALDWELL,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Building-Sheets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, referenee being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the numerals and figures of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the sheet. Fig. 2 is a view showing the lined side of the sheet. Fig. 3 is a section on line 11, Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a sectional view showing amodilication.
The present invention has relation to building sheets, especially designed for roofing, siding and for such other purposes as may be or are necessary in the construction of buildmgs.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.
In the accompanying drawing, 1 represents the sheet, which may be formed of any desired size and of metal such as is commonly used for the purpose above pointed out. The sheet 1 is provided with any desired number of ridges 2, which ridges are produced by bending the body of the sheet at an angle to the remaining plain portion of the sheet. Upon one face of the sheet is located a sheet of non-metallic lining material. 3, which material is originallyplaced upon the face of the sheet and said non=meta'l lic material bent or folded with the angled bends or folds of the sheet, said folded portions of the non-metallic sheet located and bound or locked in the folds of the metallic sheet, thereby securely connecting the' lining to the metallic sheet without the absolute necessity of using any adhesive substance to connect the non-metallic and metallic sheets together. However in some instances it may be desirable to use an adhesive substance in addition to the clamping effect produced by folding the nonmetallic and metallic sheets as shown. In some instances it is desirable to employ wires 4 and bend the non-metallic and metallic sheets around and upon said wires, which wires when imbedded as'shown will prevent the non-metallic sheets from becoming detached by any pulling strain or by gravity.
In Fig. 4 I have illustrated the non-metallic and metallic sheets connected together by folds or ribs without the use of the binding wires or in other words the non-metallicsheet is clamped between the angled portions of the metallic sheet 1, which folds constitute the ribs 2.
I havelearned from experience that when adhesive substance is exclusively employed to connect the non metallic and metallic sheets together that there is a liability of the non-metallic sheets or lining to become detached from the metallic sheets but by my improved method the liability of the non-metallic or lining sheet to become detached is avoided.
It will be understood that by forming the ribs or bends a double purpose is brought about, first as above stated to bind the lining and second to stiffen the sheet and to prevent any sagging or bending of the sheet between the supports of the sheet.
Having fully described my invention What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is a I. An improved building sheet consisting of metallic and non-metallic members, the metallic member provided with folds or ridges bent from the body of the metallic member and the non-metallic member located upon one face of the metallic member. the folds of the non mctallic member bound in the folds of the metallic member, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

3. A building sheet consisting of metallic and non-metallic members, said non-metallic and metallic members provided with ridges or folds, the non-metallic and metallic folds located around binding wires, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
