More specific ally considered, my invention contemplates a circular naihfile having an annular file-groove and adapted to be turned or rotated by one hand for the purpose of causing the said file-groove to travel along the edge of a nail on the other hand.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face view of my improved manicuring-tool on an enlarged scale. Fig. 2 is an or go view of said tool. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of said tool. Fig. 4. is a cross-section showing a different form of tool. Figs. 5 and 6 show another form of the tool.
As thus illustrated, my improved nail-file consists of a flat ring A, provided with a central opening a and an annular file-groove a, the latter being close to the said opening. The tool is adapted to be placed on the end of a finger or thumb, with the edge of the nail engaging in the groove a, and to t tated or turned by the other hand. This, it will be seen, causes the "file-teeth to act on the edge of the nail in the usual and well-known manner. During such use it will be understood that the end of the finger or thumb engages in the opening a.
In Fig. 4 the ring B has two file-grooves b and I), said grooves being on opposite sides of the ring. Obviously the circular edge a may be roughened or otherwise adapted to enter and remove foreign substances from beneath the nail. It will be seen that advertising of any desired character can be placed upon the face or back of the tool. Of course my improved manicuring-tool can be made a part of some other object. It will also be apparent that these rings or tools in whatever form can be made of different sizes. In any event, however, the curvature of the tool uen be romay conform, or very nearly so, to the desired curvature for the end of the nail. Figs. 5 and 6 the tool is substantially the same, but in this case is provided with a notch C at its outer edge, the two prongs 0 being adapted for removing foreign substances from beneath the nails.
hat I claim as my invention is 1. A manicuringtool consisting of a ring provided with an annular file-groove,. the said tool being disk-like and provided at its center with a round perforation adapted to engage the end of a finger or thumb to permit the tool to turn or rotate thereon, provided also with a flat annular margin of metal outside and around said file-teeth, substantially as set forth.
A manicuring-tool consisting of a flat ring having its face provided, close to its cen tral opening, with an annular file-groove, the said tool consisting of a flat or substantially flat piece of thin sheet metal with the fileteeth located in the plane thereof, substantially as set forth.
3. A manicuring-tool consisting of a body having a de ression and having also an annular row of file-teeth encircling said depression, the said tool being disk-like and provided at its center with a round perforation adapted to engage the end of a finger or thumb to permit the tool to turn or rotate thereon, and provided also with a flat annular margin of metal outside and around said fileteeth, substantially as set forth.
4. A rotary nail-file having an annular line of file-teeth, the said tool consisting of a flat or substantially flat piece of thin sheet metal with the file-teeth located in the plane thereof, substantially as set forth.
5. A rotatable manicuring-tool provided with an annular roughened edge adapted to enter and remove foreign substance from be neath the nail, the said tool being disllil e and provided at its center with a round perforation adapted to engage the end of a finger or thumb to permit the tool to turn or rotate thereon, and provided also with a fiat annular margin of metal outside and around said fileteeth, substantially as set forth.
