To all 'whom it may concern v Beit known that I, JOHN SHOE, of Pleasant Hill, in the county of Miami, and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bee-Hives; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, and in which is represented a perspective section of my bee-hive.

The nature of this invention consists in securing the top-of the hive by means of hooks and staples, so as to admit of ready access to the honey-boxes, and also in supplying the hive with a hinged inclined bottom, which can be set at any desired inclination by pins or keys, substantially as land for the purpose hereinafter set forth.

The pieces c a are furnished at each end with grooves,

into which ts or rests a slatted frame, l). From these grooves, extending downwards a suitable distance thereom, are cut other grooves or slots, into which slide glass doors c.

d represents a partition or board, provided on its .upper side with projections, inorder to keep the honeylboxes f j' separate, and at the same time secure them in pla'ce thereon.

This partition or board d rests on the upper ends of the pieces a a', and is also provided with holes or apertures, through which the bees, from the main chamber of the hive, enter the honey-boxes.

hooks, catching into-staples on the sides of the hive. By means of this arrangement the top may be removed .at any time, when so desired.

The holes i, in the sides of the upper part ofthe hive, are made for ventilation. l

I hinge the bottom, C, to the lower side of the piece a' of hive A, and allow its opposite end to project out a short distance beyond the side of the hive, which is out away, as seen in the drawing, for that purpose.

This bottom can be' placed at any desired inclination by means of keys or pins l l, the sides of the hive being furnished with holes for that purpose.

What I claim as' new, land desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

' 1. The adjusting hinged inclined bottom C, operat ing substantially as set forth.

2. The top, B, provided withsupports or strips'h h, to which are attached hooks, catching into staples on the hive, for the purpose of removing the said top, substantially as described.
