Be it known that I, ALVA AYERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Payson, Lincoln county, in the Territoryfof Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Floor-Set, of which the following is a specification.

The objectof this invention is to provide an implement for facilitating the laying of floors.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a floor-set embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal mid-section of the same in position for setting a floor, a fragment of which is shown.

The floor-set comprises a body 1 and handle 2, the body being constructed with a poll 3 and a block 4, said block having a grooved setting-face 5 and a flat base 6 at one edge and the poll and handle being aslant relative to said base. The body 1 is provided at the bend between the poll and the base with a slanting handle-socket 7, which slants upward away from the poll and toward the grooved face 5, the groove 8 in which is adapted to receive the tongue of the flooring 9.

In the drawings, 10 represents subflooring or a joist on which the flooring 9 is being laid. The poll 3 is preferably provided with a socket 11, in which a buffer 12 is seated.

In practical operation the workman will place, the grooved face 5 being brought along the tongued face of the floor to be laid.'

It is obvious that the tool may be made of any suitable metal or other desired material, metal being preferred. The tool is prefer- I ably so constructed that the center of gravity lies at such a point as to cause the tool to l rest upon its base 6 when left free, so that 1 the handle 2 is always in position to be l grasped by the workman.

WVhat I claim is 1. A floor-set comprising a body and a handle, the body being constructed with a block and with a poll set aslant thereon, said block being provided at one edge with a grooved face.

2. A floor-set comprising a bent block pro vided in its bend with a slanting handlesocket and provided on one edge with a grooved face.

3. A block provided on one edge with a hollow poll, and on the other edge with a groove.

4. A bent block provided on one side of the bend with a hollow poll, and on the other side of said bend with a grooved face, a buffer in said poll and a handle for handling the block.

5. A floor-set comprising a block having a base, a grooved face at one edge and a socketed poll at the other edge, a buffer in said poll, and a slanting handle.

6. A floor-set comprising a block having a base, a setting-face at one edge thereof, a poll at the otheredge thereof, and a handle between the poll and the said face, the poll and base being aslant relative to each other.

7. A floor-set comprising a body and a handle, the body being constructed with a poll and a block, said block having a grooved face and a fiat base at one edge, and the poll and the handle being aslant relative to said ase.
