GLOVE-RETAINING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 12, 1907.
Application filed January 8, 1907. Serial No. 351.439.
T0 at whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EMMA- 0. DE VRIES, a citizen of the United States, residing at WVashington, District of Columbia, have in- I vented certain new and useful Improvements in Glove-Retaining Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as Will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for holding up longarmed gloves, and especially in the provision of a resilient band with disconnected ends and carrying clamping means adapted to engage the upper end of the arm of a glove, and in the provision of hooks carried by the l band and designed to engage the sleeve of a dress whereby the long-armed glove may be held up.
My invention consists in various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view showing the application of my invention, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the invention complete.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a band with ends disconnected and made, preferably, of aresilient metal. Fixed to the band are the clamps B, each comprising two aws, which are held in clamping relation by means of a sliding ring C, which is mounted upon the shank portions of the two aws and held frictionally in an adjusted position. Said clamping-jaws may be either fiat, round, or 5 other suitable shape and may be rigidly or pivotally held to the band and project from the lower edge thereof. Said clamping-j aws are adapted to engage the upper edge of the arm G of aglove, as shown clearly in the drawings, and hold the same securely to the band.
In adjusting my device the band is first attached to the arm of the glove by causing the jaws of the clamping device to frictionally engage the upper end of the arm G, after which the hooks upon the band may be caught in the sleeve of a dress or the lining of the sleeve, after which the folds of the lower portion of the sleeve may overhang the connected parts, thus hiding the band and the clamping devices secured thereto.
In removing the device from the sleeve the band may be contracted and at the same time raised slightly to free the hooks from the sleeve and readily remove the same therefrom.
What I claim is- 1. A device for holding up long-armed gloves comprising a strip of resilient material, clamping means fixed thereto and designed to engage the arm of the glove, and means carried by said strip for engagement with the sleeve of a dress, as set forth.
2. A device for holding up long-armed gloves comprising a band of resilient metal, clamping-jaws carried thereby and designed to engage the arm of the glove, and hooks fixed to said band and adapted to engage the sleeve of a dress, as set forth.
3. A device for holding up long-armed gloves comprising a strip of resilient metal bent in circular form with a space interme diate the ends thereof, whereby the strip may be contracted into a smaller diameter, clamps fixed to the strip and adapted to engage the arm of a glove, and hooks fiXed to the strip and projecting outwardly and over the upper edge thereof and designed to engage the sleeve of a dress, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
EMMA 0. DE VRIES.
