A. NT'WISE. ADJUSTABLE HEAD REST FOR COOLING BOARDS.

ALEXANDER N. WISE, OF AMERIOUS, KANSAS.
ADJUSTABLE HEAD-REST FOR COOLING-BOARDS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 5, 1907.
Application filed May 17,1906. Serial No. 317.396.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER N. WIsE, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Americus, county of Lyon, State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inv Adjustable Head-Rests for Cooling-Boards, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of my device complete. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the head-frame in vertical section; Fig. 3, a front elevation, and Fig. 4 a detail section on the line 4 4 of Fig. 2.
This invention relates especially to port able head-rests; and the object is to provide simple means for rigidly but adjustably supporting the head-frame whereby the operator may place the chin or face of the corpse in any desired position, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
To the accomplishment of this object and such others as may hereinafter appear the invention consists of the parts and combination of arts hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which the same reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views.
The base of the device consists of a thin plate or bar A and a thicker bar or plate B, which crosses said plate A near one end thereof and is rigidly attached thereto in any suitable manner, preferably by means of a rivet formed on the lower end of a post C. The upper end of this post is formed into an eye,- and projecting through this eye is a horizontal bolt H, on which is threaded a winged nut I.
Between the nut I and the post and also between the head of the bolt and the opposite side of the post is clamped a link E, each of which is slotted longitudinally for the passage of the bolt H and whereby said links may be adjusted. independently and clamped in their adjusted positions. These links curve respectively upwardly and rearwardly and upwardly and forwardly and are each pivoted at its upper end to a rivet-eye f, depending from the head-frame D.
The headframe consists of the curved arch-like bar and a front cross-bar, this crossbar being curved downwardly to receive the neck of the corpse. With this construction it will be observed that the operator may readily adjust the head-frame to the desired position and clamp it rigidly in position.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In combination, a head-frame, a link pivotally connected to its upper end and curving downwardly and forwardly therefrom, a link pivotally connected to its forward end and curving downwardly and rearwardly and intersecting the aforesaid link, a supporting-post, and means carried at its upper end for clamping the intersected links at their point of intersection to the u per end of the supporting member, the links being adjustable independently, substantially as described.
2. The combination of a base, provided. with a post, a clamping device carried at the upper end of said post, intersecting supporting-links slotted longitudinally and adapted to be adjusted independently and clamped at their point of intersection intermediate their ends to the top of said post, and a headframe supported on the upper ends of said linlis and having pivotal connection therewit A. N. WISE.
