THOMAS "J. FALVEY', OF SOUTH BOsTON,'MAssAcHUsETTs, ASSIGNOR To JOSEPH F. JOAQUIN, OF SOUTH BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS. L
' citizen of the United States, residing at South GAME APPARATUS.
To a whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. FA VEY, a
Boston, in the county ofSuffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to that class ofgame apparatus known as parlor games and the object is to provide an apparatus of the character described which shall enable any number of persons to engage in a com.- petitive'game which shall be entertaining and which shall develop the skill of the com- I and arrangement of parts set forth in the fol-' lowing specification, and particularlypointed I petitors.
The invention consists in .the combination out in the claims thereof.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a central longitudinal section, partly in elevation, of my improved game apparatus, the
same being partly broken away to save space in the drawings. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same. Fig. '3 is an elevation of the target viewed from'the right of Fig. 1,
the same being broken away to save space in.
the drawings.
Likenumerals refer to, like parts 'through- I out the several views of the drawings.
In the drawings, 5 is a target provided with a large aperture 6 and a plurality of smaller apertures 7. 8 is a gun-mount upon which is mounted a spring-gun 9. The target 5 and the gun-mount 8 are detachablyportion 11, extending around three sides thereof, said flat portion having therein a plurality of depressions 12, which are referably'hemispherical inform. A wal 13, which rises above the, general. level of the .5 1 1, which extends around and forms a part base 10, extends around the periphery of said base. y
I may, if I so desire, omit the flat portion of the base 10, and may form the depressions 12 in the .convexly-curved surface of said base. The spring-gun 9comprises in its con- Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed October 5,1906. Serial No. 337,570. I

struction a tube 14, pivoted at '15 to a support 16, said support bein pivoted at' 17 to I 1 the gun-mount 8. The tu e 14 is provided with an orifice 18, into which'a marble or other projectile may be introduced. The orifice 18 communicates with the bore 19 of the tube 14. A lunger 20,"s1idably mounted within the tu e 14, is provided with a handle 21, by means of which said plunger may be retracted from the position shownin the drawings untilthe front face 22 of said plunger has passed toward the left beyond the orifice 18. The marble or other projectile 23 will then an into'the bore 19, and
when the handle 21 is released a helical com-'- pression-spring 24 ,moves the plunger past the orifice 18 to the position shown in Fig. 1
thereby propelling said projectiletoward the.
target 5.
;A plurality of pockets-2 5, formed of netting, cloth, or other suitable material, are
suspended from the back of the target '5 op-' 'posite the apertures 7, respectively. A clapper 26 is pivoted at 27 to two brackets 28,
preferably provided on its front face 29 with 'a pictorial representation of the countenance of a negro. The clapper 26 normally extends across and covers the aperture 6. A helicaltorsion-spring 30 is adapted-to return the bell-striker 31 is fast to the clapper '26 an s mounted on the target 5. The clapper 26 is adapted to strike .abell 32 when the clapper I 26 is struck by a projectile and rocked upon its pivot 27. The gun-mount 8 and the target 5 are provided with dowel- pins 33 and 34, respectively, so-that when the apparatusis out of use said target and gun-mount may be removed from their places and laid down upon the base 10.
It will be evident that, if desired, the
' spring-gun 9 may be dispensed with and the players-may with their hands throw proj ectiles at the target 5. 1
The general operat on ofthe apparatus hereinbefore specifically described, is as follows: One of the persons engaged in playing the game places a marble or other 23 in the orifice 18 swings the tu ward the right or left, up or down', ashe may desire, to aim the gun at the target 5, it be-. ing the object to hit the clapper 26 if possible,
