- Beit known that I, WILLIAM MoINTosH, a
citizen ofjthe' United States, residing atWili mington, inthecount of Will'and State of Illinois," have invente certain new and useful Improvements in Horseshoe-Conformators, of which thefollowing is a s pecification,
'My inventionis an improved horseshoe-g conformator' made of iron, aluminlum, or
other ifireproof-material.'
- The-object is to save the horseshoer much fatigue and waste'oftime in ascertainingithe, size of shoe needed for the horse being shod, I, such as having to lift the horses'foot several times to'try the shoe being shaped and walking back and forth several times from forge fatigue.
My i device is in four sections spliced to'. gether', and held in place by bolts and thumbscrews.
The ends of the lapping parts aresufiiciently curved to allow the sections to hinge. I 'With each other just enough to permit the pattern to be expanded or contracted'to the I size-'ofany hoof. Place for heel end can be Specification o'f LettersP atent. Appucaanfinu ru9,1906. SerialNofBlOiGfiO.

markedpas the pattern is designed for the 1011 est as well as shortest shoes.
T e curve of the pattern will be perfectly regular for'the' average-sized shoe. Otherwise there will be a slight departure from a regular curve, but'not enough to prevent the pattern being an accurateguideto'the shapinglof the shoe. f
n the drawings Figure 1 is a top view of my device, and Fig. 2 is a view showing how sections'are spliced togethe'r, with heads of bolts A. embedded, leaving a smooth bottom surface, and thumb-screws B to loosen or tighten the joints when adjusting the pattern to any required size. 2
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters ,Patent, isv horseshoe-conformator of four sections, the sections being joined by the ends being spliced and fitted together in the form of sockets and held together'by means of thumbscrews, so that the conformator can be ad- 'justed to any'desired size by lessening the thumb-screw pressure at the joints and then made rigid by increasing the thumb-screw pressure at thej'oints, substantially as described and illustrated.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in'pre'sence of two witnesses.
