Description

No; 837,673. PATENTED DEC. 4; 1906.
- HRW. EDEN. ELECTRIC SIGNAL BELL.
WITNESSES Irwin T03 EVA/ M p w/4w fim.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HAROLD W. EDEN, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO P. R. MANU- FACTURING COMPANY, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
ELECTRIC SIGNAL-BELL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 4, 1906.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HAROLD 'W. EDEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Electric Signal-Bells and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to electric signalbells.
It has for its object an improved signalbell adapted to be used in connection with the high-tension current of an electric light or similar high-tension currents.
In the drawing the figure represents the bell and indicates the wiring.
1 indicates the bell; 2, the hammer carried on an armature which is vibrated by the alternate energizing and denergizing of a magnet 4 14, surrounded by coils 3 and 8.
5 indicates the source of electric energy; 6, a direct wire leading to the binding-post 7, thence through the coil 3 and the coil 8. After emerging the conductor from the coil 8 divides. One branch 15 leads to a resistance 9 and thence back to the frame near the lower binding-post 16, and one branch 10 leads to an insulated binding-post 11, thence to a vibrating point 12. The vibrating point 12 is insulated from the hammer-armature 13, but is held to vibrate with it. When the armature 13 is drawn toward the magnets 4 and 14 by their electrical state, the point 12 touches the core 14 of the coil 8, and the current is thereby short-circuited through the point 12 and its connections and through the magnet itself and the frame.
What I claim is In combination with a bell, a sounding.
t HAROLD W. EDEN.
