Leading to the coupling 9 is a steam-pipe 13, and thereon is a valve 15, which is adfpted to be actuated by movement of the phragm 16, which diaphragm is adjustably connected with the thermostat 17, which thermostat extends longitudinally of the ln the chamber 18 of the coupling is supported a tube 19, which is closed at its upper end, and extending into thel tube 19 is a steam-supply tube 2()v in connection with the steam-pipe 13,witli the valve 15 interposed between said members 13 and 20. Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a heating system for heating water with steam, a supply-pipe, aradiator, areturn# pipe and a coupling for said pipes, said coup ling comprising an outer shell, with a partition approximately centrally of said shell but of less length so as to leave a water-passa re at each end thereof, a closed tube on one side of said partition, a steam-pipe extending nearly the length of and within saidtube, and a vthermostat on. the opposite side of said partition said thermostat being adapted to control the flow of steam through said steami ie.
