To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, IGNAZIO DE FRAN- oIsoI, a subject of the King of Italy, and a resident of No. 172 Prince street, New York,
in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain newanduseful Improvements in Machines for Conveying and Distributing Button-Blanks and Similar l Articles, of which thevfollowing is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in machines for conveying button-blanks and similar articles; and it consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
One of the particular objects of my invention is to provide a device by which buttonblanks and similar articles may be conveyed to and arranged upon a table, wherefrom they may be taken away one after the other to another-table for cutting them orotherwise operating upon them.
The above and other objects, which will appear as the nature of the inventionis better understood, are accomplished by the below. Fig. 6 is a plan view of the feedingrod and its guide. Fig. 7 is a partly-sectional view of the same on line 7 7 in Fig. 6.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The table 1 is connected by hinges 2 or by any suitable connection to the upper end. of an inclined table 3 and is supported by a brace 4 upon said inclined table, which is secured by a bracket or support 5 to the distributing-table 6. This table 6 is supported by the standard 7, mounted to slide vertically in the standard 8, and can be adjusted by the adjusting-screw 9. The standard 8 is secured to the floor by the plate 10. A plate 11, preferably made from glass, is carried by the inclined table 3 parallel to it by the adjusting-screws 12 to permit the buttons from the table 1 to slide down between them. Said plate can be adjusted by the adjusting-screws 12 to any suitable distance above the inclined table 3. At the foot of the inclined table 3 a reciprocating bar or member 13 is mounted in aguide-plate or guideway 14 and keepers 15, which are secured to the guide-plate 14, said guide-plate being secured to the inclined table3. The guide-plate and the inclined table have in the middle line of the inclined table a circular aperture 16.
The reciprocating bar or member is provided with two recesses 17 and 18, having a dovetail shape or other suitable form for holding a lining 19, which consists of the side walls 20, the top wall 21, and the back wall 22. The lining is exchangeable and has thicker or thinner .walls, as thebutton-blank or similar article may have a larger or smaller size.
At one end the reciprocating bar ormember 13 is bent at a right angle, extending downward and providing thereby an arm 23. Pivotally attached to it is lever 24, the opposite end of which is engaged by the crank-pin 26 of the crank 25, said crank being mounted upon one end of the shaft 27, which is supported in bearing-brackets 28, secured to the lower surface of the inclined table 3. Upon the other end of the shaft 27 is mounted a bevel-gear 29, which is engaged with a bevel gear or pinion 30, mounted on the inner end of a shaft or spindle 31, being journaled on the bearing-brackets 32, secured to the lower surface of the inclined table 3. Upon the other end of the shaft 31 is mounted a pulley 33, driven by a belt 34 or in any other desired manner. Upon the shaft 31 is also mounted to revolve therewith a crank 35. The crank -pin 36 of this crank is engaged by one end of the connecting-rod 37, the other end being pivotally connected to the lever 38. The upper end of this lever is fulcrumed on a support 39, secured- The erated upon being placed upon the table in desired quantities, pass down the inclined table 3 under the glass plate 11 to the reciprocating rod or member 13, where the passage of the buttons is shut off by said rod, in the recesses of which are mounted the linings 19, which correspond with the size of the button-blanks or other articles to be operated upon. The linings of the reciprocating rod will engage a single blank. The rod willbe operated by the belt 34 and pulley 33, carried by the shaft 31, upon which is mounted a beveled gear 30, engaging the beveled gear 29, revolving thereby the crank and alternating thus the rod or member 13. The shaft 31 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, causing thereby an alternating motion of the rod 13 and also a back and forward motion of the push-plate 40. The cranks 25 and 35 are related to one another, so as to cause certain corresponding motion of the parts 13 and 40. l/Vhenever one of the openings with a single button-blank arrives at a circular aperture of the plate 14 and the inclined table 3, the U-shaped notch 41 of the push-plate must be right below said circular aperture, because the lining carries a blank to the circular aperture, where it will drop through this circular aperture to the.
receiving-plate 42 and will be there engaged by the U-shaped notch of the push-plate 40 and will be carried between the guide-rails to the point immediately below the lower opening 43 of the exhaust-pipe 44, which is part of a separate invention and which carries the button-blank or other article to a table where the blank is further operated upon.

Having thus described my invention, I
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 5 of a reciprocable member at the lower end thereof, a number of recesses in said reciprocable member adapted to receive blanks or similar articles from said inclined table, a guideway for said reciprocable member, an aperture in said guideway, a receiving-plate beneath said aperture, and a push-plate reciprocable on said receiving-plate.
2. The combination with an inclined table, of a member abutting the lower end thereof and reciprocable at right angles thereto, a number of recesses in said reciprocable member adapted to receive blanks or similar articles from said inclined table in one position of said member and discharge these in another position of the same, a guideway for said reciprocable member, a receivingplate for said blanks, a push-plate reciprocable on said receivingplate, and means for causing said push-plate to operate in a predetermined relation to said reciprocable member.
3. The combination with an inclined table, of a reciprocable member, a plurality of recesses in said member and adapted to receive blanks from said table in one position of said member and deliver these in another position of the same, a second member reciprocable at right angles to the first member and adapted to remove the blanks delivered by said first member, and means for causing cooperation between said two members.
