Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\ JOHN AUSTIN YATES, 0F ROSEBANK, NEW YORK.
CEMENTAND PROCESS OF MAKING SAME.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 16, 1906.
Application filed January 27, 1906. Serial No.'29l3,099.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN AUSTIN YATES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in the town of Rosebank, county of Richmond, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cement and the Process of Making Same, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and useful composition of matter and to a process for making the same. The new composition is adapted-for use as insulating-cement,'and particularly for use as the base of an incandescent-light bulb.
My composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions stated: rosin, thirty-two er cent. m'nc oxid, twenty per cent.; marb e-fiour, forty-eight per cent. These ingredients are ordinary articles of commerce, except that the rosin I prefer to use is that known in commerce as white rosin. The cement consisting of the above-named insulating electric wires from each other and in withstanding application of heat up to the point ordinarily met with in service.
now making the cement. heat I melt the rosin oxid and bring and then add By the app ication of the mixture to a liquid form, the marble-flour. Of course ingredients has been found to combine desired results in the nature of proceed to explain the rocess ofand then add the zinc during the mixing of the ingredients the matter is thoroughly mingled by agitation. The composition is then applied to whereit may be useful and allowed to cool.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A composition of matter consisting of rosin, zinc oxid, and marble-flour.
2. A composition of matter consisting of thirty-two parts of rosin, twenty parts of zinc oxid, and forty-ei ht parts of marbleflour, combined under t e action of heat.
3. The rocess of making cement which consists o reducing rosin to a liquid under the action of heat, mixing zinc oxid therewith and reducing the mixture to a liici uid under the action of heat, mixingmarbleour therewith, and allowing the mixture to cool.
4. The process of, making cement which consists of reducin thirty-two arts of rosin to a liquid .under t e action of eat, mixing twenty parts of zinc oxid therewith and reducing the mixture to a liquid under the action of heat, mixing forty-eight arts of marble-flour therewith,- and allowlng the mixture to cool.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of January, 1906.
JOHN AUSTIN YATES.
In presence of FRANCIS O. FIELD,
J. F. BOUDREAU.
