NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MYER FRIEDBERGER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of my specification.
' My invention relates to a non-refillable bottle; and its object is to produce an appliance which when secured in the neck of the bottle will prevent the bottle from being refilled without destroying the bottle or the appliance itself, but will permit the contents of the bottle to be poured out at pleasure.
A further object of my invention is to produce' an appliance of this character which, while effective in operation, is of such simple and economical construction that it may be applied to bottles at a price that will not prohibit its use.
The several advantages of my invention will appear as I proceed with my description.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section through a bottle with my improvement attached; and Fig. 2 is a similar section showing the same in an inverted position, as would appear when pouring some of its contents therefrom.
A is the bottle, B the neck, and C the improved appliance or non-refillable stopper, which prevents the bottle from being refilled, but permits the contents thereof to readily flow through it. It comprises a cylindrical shell D, adapted to fit closely within the neck of the bottle, a perforated cap E, supported within said shell, and a valve F, adapted to close off the lower open end of the perforated cap E.
The shell D may be secured within the end of the bottle in any convenient manner, as by cement or otherwise. The lower part of the cap E is provided with an annular shoulder e, which is adapted to engage the projecting ed es of the top of the valve F, the shoulder 6 t us forming a seat for the valve. The valve F is a hollow cylinder provided with openings 9 near its upper end and with an annular projection G at its lower end. A
The annular projection G at the lower edge of the valve F, I find of great importance, as it materially assists in the effective operation of the appliance. By its use a very large surface for the liquid to impinge against is offered, so that when the bottle is tipped the valve is immediately opened, so as to permit the ready flow from the bottle. There is thus not only the surface of the upper end of the valve, but thesurface of the annular proj ection G, offered for the liquid to strike against.
The operation of the appliance is apparent from the description. The parts of the stopper may be made of any convenient material; but I prefer aluminium or copper, as such metal will not affect the fluids which are usually placed in bottles.
Having thus described my invention, what I desire to claim as new and to cover by Letters Patent, is
The combination with a bottle, of a perforated tubular cap supported in the neck thereof, a chamber closed at the bottom surrounding said tubular cap, a valve-seat below the perforations in said ca and a tubular valve provided with ports below the seat of said valve, and provided at its lower end with an annular projection.
