.- I claim a 1; A device 01 the character described, comprising a right-angled bracket or knee adapted to engage the bottom and lateral surfaces of the object to. be lifted or raised, and having arearward horizontal extension, and a jack-screw having threadedconnection with saidextension beyond or rearward of said bracket or .knee.

A device of the character described, comprising a right-angled bracket or knee whose vertical portion has its lateral edges formed. with lateral extensions and its-horizontal portion formed with a rearward hori- Zontal extension merging with the aforesaid rearward extensions, and a jack-screw having effective or screw-threaded connection with said rearward horizont al extension.-
