`The inclosing shell or box A isinade of porcelain and provided with the usual apertures for leading in the conductor-wires. To the inner eiid walls of the boxare secured metallic binding-posts B, to which the stationary contacts C are secured. Across the open side of the box A is attached the supporting-plate D, and overlying the'plate and constituting a iinished covering for the box E, in which are provided is the face-plate the passage of the pushsuitable holespfor` buttons F.l

for a perceptible period in an inter-A horizontal shaft 4, which is journaled in an arm 5, depending from the center of an edge of the supporting-plate D. The arm 5 is rovided with a ixed bushing 6, which affords a long bearing for the shaft, and below the bushingit is extended sidewise and has formed therein a segmental slot 7, concentric with the axis of the bearing.' On the outside of the bushing 6 is a sleevedbearing 8, to which a rocking lever 9 is attached. The rocking lever is ivotally connected at each end to a metal bracket 410, secured to the inner end of a push-button F, and is rovided at its lower edge with an arm 11, lient up parallel to the shaft 4, and at its upper e ge with a series ofgear-teeth 12.

The oscillating plate is journaled upon a stubshaft 19, carried by the arm' 5, and consists of a metal punching of disk shape with gear- 4 teeth 20 formed in' its lower edge, which mesh with the teeth formed on the upper edge of'the rocking lever 9. The stops 17 are formed at diametrically oppositepointsl to swing in a path just below that of the arm and has its opposite ends extended outward i ,and crossed, as indicated in Fig. 1, so as to yengage the opposite edges of arms 11 and 15 Aof 'the rocking" lever and the latch-(plate and operating thereon to normally hol themin alinement.
