Description

PA'LSNTED JUNE 5, 1906.

BOILER CLEANER. MPLIGATHION FILED DEG. 7. 1905.
Be it known that 1,1;JoHNfGfI'Beloning af,
citizen of the United States., residing it-Chicago, in the county or Cook` andStateof Illi'y noie, have invented certain-new andfusefulV` 7iinproveinents in Boiler-Cleaners, .of whichv .he following is a specification. l
This invention` has relation to-improve-- inentsin a device to .be .used foriremQVDgf `ment, 'and other deposits which mayaccumulate therein; and it consists'incertairipecnharitles of theconstructionfnovel arrange# ment, ando eration of the various. parte',l thereoi-as wi -l be hereinafter .more fully set forth and specifically-claimedfr he principal object of the i providev a contrivance for the above-named purpose which vshall be simple and .inexpenf sive in construction, easily placed' -inV the boiler or removed-therefrom, and .which will cooperate with the steam-pressure in the bol er for removing rious kinds therefrom.

- In order to enable others skilled in 4the art to which my invention-pertains 'to make and use the saine', i will now 'proceed' to describe- I it, referring to the accompanying diy.win'gs', l

While the above-described pipe sections and couplings afford e convenient ineens tor coniniunicetingly connecting the cleaning or perforated pipe 14 to the discharge .find supply pipes, yet it will he understood that l do not desire to be limited 'to the precise er-l rengementor construction above eet forth, lor it is' obvious that other ways of accoinplishing euch connection may beeinployed.
The operation is simple and es follows:
When-it is desired to clean the boiler or to remove therefrom theeccumuletions or deposits therein, the Valve 27 in the supplypipe 26 should he closed end the -Velve 27 in the loloW-oT or discharge pipe opened, when the steem-pressure will cause the sludge, se di ment, and deposits to be liorced through the perforetions 14a in the cleaning-pipe and out through its connections with the disehergepipe. ln this operation the sedimentor eccumulations all along the bottoni of the boiler and on each side of the cleaner will be caused toA pass out 'through the perforated pipe h reason of the casing or housing which partie ly sui-rounds the saine and which, es before stated, is flared toward its bottom, for it will be understood theft es the water and sediment or deposits located directly be heath the pipe 14 end between the sides of the casing or housing l-l are removed the sludge or deposits lying on eitherV side-of the casing will he caused to pees therein andA out through the cleaning-pipe. ln other'words, the seeing or housing will cause e Widespread circulation or movement of the water end deposits' whichwould not otherwise be produced. ln some inst-ences the sludge and sediinentadheres to thefboiler with such `tenecity ltliet ordinary steam-pressure will pipe, 'so that it will pass through the perf(- rations le and out under each side of ,the
