Be it known vthat I, JANE C. PUTNAM, of the city and county-of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and usefnl Improvements in Tables for ironingand other purposes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a. full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the-letters of reference marked thereon. In said drawings-.-

Figure 1 shows a perspective view of my improved table. Figure 2 is a side view as arranged for ironing. Figure 3 is an end v-iew.. i Figure 4 is a section. The same letters indicate the same parts in all the figures.

. I construct the body of the table somewhat in theusual form, with the sides rising higher than the ends A A, so that the top, B, may be grooved into them; and to each end hinge thepieces C C seas. to turn up over the ends A A, as in fig. 2, to support the top, and leave a space underneath for conveniently ironing' skirts, pillow-cases, Ste., the pieces C C turning down to allow the top to slide into its place in the grooves.

In the -body of the table, I place a drawer or drawers, in which provision is made for holding ice, and" allowing the water to escape., ns by the shelf D and tube E.

The legs O O are attached ta the body by screws, or such means as to allow of their being readily-removed, and may bo of any desired form and style.

The leaves P P may be attached in the usualwvay, and are provided with staples or-hooks on their under side, so that they may be secured'in position by the hooks gg, olsimilar means that shall secure them and the drawers, as shown n g. 3 in dotted lines.

Some modification of parts may be best in making different sizes and-styles of tables, -whichwill be evidentat once, without further description, to those skilled in the art. i

To prepare the table for ironingthe top is slid out, and the pieces C C are turned up to. place, and the top placed on them, forming a vtable suitable for almost every article to be ironed.

With the top returned to place, the table may be used in the ordinary way, theice-drawerformng a convenient refrigerator, and the remainder a convenient receptacle for various uses.

At R is a slide, of metal rods, or other suitable construction, for holdingv hotirons, and for various articles,

and the legs may be removed and packed in the drawer with other things, and the leaves being fastened, it forms a handy means of transport, or camp-table with its varied uses.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 1. The construction of the top, B, the pieces C C, for supporting the top, in connection with the slide R, substantially as set forth and described.

2. The combination of the movable legs, leaves, drawer or drawers, and a fastening-mechanism that holds both drawer and leaves, substantially as set forth and described.
