In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with a fulcrum-plate, apair of levers fulcrumed thereon extending downwardly from their respective fulcrums, having each an arm extending toward the other lever of the pair in the plane of rocking movement of the levers; gripping-shoes pivotally carried by the said levers at their lower ends, and a third lever 'Iulcrumed for movement transversely of said oppositely-extending arms of the first levers under the same.
3. In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with the fulcrum-plate, a plurality of pairs of levers fulcrumed on the plate and extending downwardly from their respective fulcrums, the two levers of each pair having arms extending transversely, each toward the o osite lever of the pair, and two additional lbvers fulcrumcd on the plate extending longitudinally transversely to said oppositely-extending arms of the first-mentioned levers under the same.
4. In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with the fulcrum-plate, a pair of levers fulcrumed on the plate and extending downwardly from their fulcrums opposite each other and provided with means at their lower ends for gripping the block between them; an arm extending transversely across the interval between the levers; a third lever fulcrumed. on the plate extending longitudinally transversely to said arms under the same, and a handle independent of said levers for lifting the fulcrum-plate.
5. In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with a fulcrum-plate, a pair of levers fulcrumed on the plate and extending downwardly from their fulcrums, the two levers of each pair having means at their lower ends for gripping a block between them, and having at t eir upper ends arms extending each toward the opposite lever across the interval between them, and two lifting-levers fulcrumed on the plate extending transversely with respect to the arms of the firstmentioned levers of said pairs, respectively, under the same.
6. In a device for the pur ose indicated, in combination with the fu crum-plate, two pairs of levers fulcrumed on the plate and eX- tending downwardly therefrom, and grippingshoes pivotally mounted on said levers respectively, at their lower ends, said levers having at their upper ends arms extending transversely, each toward the opposite lever of the pair, the two arms of each pair of levers standing alongside each other and projecting each past the opposite lever; two additional levers fulcrumed on the plate and extending longitudinally thereof, comprising each two side bars which extend under the projecting ends of said transversely-extendlng arms of the first-mentioned levers,
and a handle independent of said levers for lifting the late.
7. In a eviee for the purpose indicated, in combination with a fulcrum-plate, a pair of levers fulcrumed on the plate and having each an arm projectin downward and moving toward and away "rom each other as the levers are rocked, a lever having its fulcrum carried b the (plate and provided with a lifting-hand e, sai last-mentioned lever operating on the other arms of the first-mentioned levers to rock the downwardly-extending arms of said first-mentioned levers toward each other in the lifting movement of the last-mentioned lever, and means by which said downwardly-extending arms grip the block between them.
8. In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with the fulcrum-plate, a air of bell-crank levers fulcrumed on the p ate havin downwardly-projecting arms extending be ow the plate and horizontally-extend ing arms above the late; means connected with the plate exten ing under said horizontally-extending arms for liftin the latter to move the downwardly-exten ing arms toward each other, and means by which said downwardly-extending arms grip the block between them when thus moved.
9. In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with the fulcrum-plate, a pair of levers fulcrumed on the plate for rocking in parallel planes, having eachadownwardlyprojecting arm and an arm extending toward the other lever of the pair; a hand-operated lifting-lever fulcrumed on the plate operating by its upward movement on said last-mentioned arms, and means by which the downwardly-extending arms grip the block between them.
10. In a device for the urpose indicated,
in combination with the fu crum-plate, a pair of leversfulcrumed on the plate for rocking in parallel planes, having each a downwardlyprojecting arm and an arm extending to ward the other lever of the pair; means mounted on the plate en a ing under said last-mentioned arms for lii tin the same; means by which the downwardly-extending arms grip the block between them, and a handle independent of said levers for lifting the fulcrum-plate.
11. In a device for the purpose indicated, in combination with a fulcrum-plate, two pairs of levers fulcrumed on the plate for rocking in parallel planes, having each an arm projecting downward and an arm projecting toward the opposite lever of the pair; ii'ting-levers mounte on the plate engagin under the last-mentioned arms of the paired levers, and means on the downwardly-extending arms of said paired levers for en aging the block between the two levers of eac pair,
