Description

PATENTED MAY 15, 1906. E. BORNHOEFT.
PIANO PEDAL. APPLICATION FILED JAN. 2a, 1906.
the removable panel a EDWARD BORNHOEFT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PIANO-PEDAL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 15, 1906.
Application filed January 23, 1906. Serial No. 297,413.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD BORNHOEFT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, Bronx, county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Piano-Pedals, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved piano-pedal which can be readily tightened up from time to time and may be readily removed and replaced when worn or broken.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of my improved pedal, showing the piano-case in section. Fig. '2 is a plan, and Fig. 3 a vertical longitudinal section on line 3 3, Fig. 2.
The letter a indicates the bottom of the piano-case, of which a is the front, having Through the front a extends the pedal-foot b, engagedby the rod or lifter c. The rear end of foot I) is provided with laterally-extending trunnions b, journaled in the bearings 11 of a slotted block d. This block is secured to the bottom a by means of screws 6 passing through laterallyprojecting perforated flanges d of the block.
The slotted cap or cover f of block 11 is provided with a tailpiece f, fulcrumed at f to uprights d of block d. Through a tapped perforation of tail iecef passes a set-screw engaging with its ower end a rest 01, formed on block d back of uprights d By manipulating screw 9 the frictional contact between trunnions Z) and their bearings may be readily adjusted. In case the foot I) is to be removed or replaced the cap f is by screw g raised sufficiently to release trunnions b access to the screw being gained by first removing panel a What I claim is In a piano-pedal, the combination of a pedal-foot having a trunnion with a slotted block having a trunnion-bearing, a pair of uprights, and a rest back of the uprights, and with a slotted cap pivoted to the uprights, and a set-screw tapped into said cap and engaging the rest, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at New York city, Manhattan, N. Y., this 22d day of January, 1906.
EDWARD BORNI-IOEFT.
