Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it new concern:

Be it known that I, l/VILHELM Ann, engi neer, a subject of the German Emperor, and a resident of Berlin, 0. Kochhannstrasse 22, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Self-Acting Collapsing Targets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip tion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to an inflatable collapsing target which differs from the usual inflatable collapsing targets in the special formation of the target-holder.

The target-holder is the same as with other systems rigidly connected to a rotating axle, which allows of turning down and up the target, as desired.

The drawings show in Figure 1 a front view, and in Fig. 2 a side view, of the collapsing target.

The target a, properly speaking, is, as usual, of about the outlines of the upper part of a human body and consists of a hollow body of sheet metal which is filled with air or with a liquid through a valve 1). By this inflation the target a is jammed in between the holding-lath c, fastened by means of a clamp c to the horizontal gas-pipe d, which serves as an axle, and a second lath The latter is supported by the holding-lath c by means of two pins 9 and i, of which one, 9, may be bent a little, and which are when the target is blown up retained in the eyes it and It. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States of America, is v I. The combination with an inflatable target, of a pair of holders for the target, means securing the two holders together when the target is inflated and permitting them to separate when the target is deflated.

2. The combination with an inflatable tar get, of a pair of holders between which the target is held, eyes on one of said holders, and pins carried by the other holder, held within the eyes by the target when the target is inflated and released from one of the eyes when the target is deflated.

3. The combination with an inflatable tar get, of a pair of holders, one of which is pivotally mounted, eyes carried at the ends of one of the holders and pins carried by the ends of the other holder, held within the eyes when the target is inflated and movable in the eyes when the target is deflated to release the target.

I. The combination with a pivotallymounted holder, of aninflatable target adapted to be held by the holder, and means automatically causing the turning of the target when the target is deflated.
