Specification of Letters Patent.
ratented May 1, 1906.
Application filed May 25, 1905. Serial No. 262,252.
1'!) all [ch 0111 it 71mg concern.-
Be it known that I, HORACE \l. FOULK, a i
citizen of the United States, residing at Oshkosh, in the county of Winnebago and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Buggies, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in 1 buggies and to that class of vehicles having a bent reach or a bifurcated reach. Vehicles of this class have heretofore only been adapted to platform-springs.
My invention provides a means of adapting vehicles of said class to end springs, so as to construct an end-spring buggy with a bent reach or a bifurcated reach.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure .1 represents a perspective view of my invention as applied to an end-spring buggy-gear having a bent reach. Fig. 2 represents a top view of my invention.
My invention consist-s, essentially, in a spliced bed or cap for the rear axle and means for attaching the same to the bent reach and to the axle. The rear spring may be clipped to the rear axle and bed in the ordinary manne r, as shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 2 represents the rear axle, and 3 represents one form of bent reach now in'use.
-'l represents the rear-axle bed, beveled at,
means of the clips 10 10 and the rear spring attached in the usual way by means of the spring-clips 1] 11.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. In a buggy of the class described, a rearaxle bed or cap interposed or spliced between the prongs of the reach, substantially as shown.
2. In a buggy of the class described, a rearaxle bed interposed between the prongs of the reach and means for attaching the same to the prongs, substantially as shown.
3. In a buggy of the class described, the combination with prongs of the reach, of an axle-bed engaging said prongs, and substantially T-shaped bolts connecting said prongs and axle-bed.
4. In a buggy of the class described, the combination with the prongs of the reach,of an axle-bed engaging said prongs, and fastening means extending through said prongs and axle-bed.
In a buggy of the class described, the combination with the prongs of the reach, an axle-bed interposed between said prongs,
and removable fastening means for attaching said axle-bed to said prongs.
6. In a buggy of the class described, the combination with the prongs of the reach, of an axle-bed engaging said prongs, and fastening means for attaching said axle-bed and prongs.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HORACE M. FOULK.
