Be it known that LHEN-RY P. GREGG, ot` Cincinnati, county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Combined Brush-Holder and Mop-Head; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, andexact description thereof, whiehwill enable others skilled in the artto make and use my invention, reference beinghad to the annexed drawings, making a part of thisspeciticaticn.

Figure I is a side elevation, when used as' a brush-holder.

Figure-II is a side elevation, when used as a mop-head.

Figure III is a. tcp view of the same.

The nature of my invention relates to` the construction of a brush-holder and mop-head, so that it may easily be changed from`the one to the'other. It consists of a T-shaped head, to which a socket is cast for the reception of Vahandle, and of a hook-bolt,l which extends over the side of a brush, and is tightened by a thumb-nut drawing the brush against a spur. It is further provided with a wire, both ends of which are bent square, which, slide in holes drilled in line with the hook-bolt, holding the mop, and is tightened by the thumb-nut above mentioned, the whole'making a combination that islight, simple, and durable.

The ladvantages of my invention are, that as both a brush-holder and a mop-head are used onthe same occasion, but cannot both be used at the same time, it becomes convenient to have thc two combined in one, in such a way that either can be put tonse, with but little time and labor, while it saves the expense of purchasing both articles. f

I construct my invention 4of the casting A, with a socket, B, for the reception of the handle C, cast at an angle-o fabout forty-tive degrees. ` 'At E is ahook-bolt, which passes through the projection e. This projection continues downward, and forms a spur, G, against which the brush H bears. -Avthumbnut, F, screws on the bolt E.

The operation o? my invention is as follows:

When it is desired tohold a brush, thehook E is passed ov-er the side of thebrush which presses against thc spur G. Thethumb-nutis then tightened up, and the brush is held secnre, as scen in Fig. I. When used as amop, the entire headis turned over, the brush removed, and the mop is then placed between the wire, D, and tbc head. The hook isncw passed over the wire, D, and thethumb-nut F tightened, whereby the mop I is held securely. i

`Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The hook-bolt E, operated by the thumb-nut'F, with the head A and spur G, for the purpose of holding a brush, substantially as described.
