To all whom it may concern: Beit known that I, SPENCER Oris, a citi'- zen of the United States,
have invented certain new and useful 'Im rovements in Dump-Cars, of which the fol owing is a specification.
v This invention relates' to that .class of .dump-cars which are provided with dropbottom portions formed of a plurality of swinging doors, and particular-l to the construction andl arrangement of the means by which the doors are hel and permitted to open, all of which will be more fully hereinafter set fort The principal object of the invention is to provide a drop-bottom dump-car with simple, economical, and efiicient mechanism for o enin t creo l l s Further objects of the invention will appear from an examination of the drawings and the following description and claims.
The invention consists principall in a dumpscar in which there are combine a plurality of dumping-doors, which form the drop-.bottom thereof and extending longitudinally of the car, a rock-shaft, and compound lever mechanism pivotally secured to the rock-shaft and to the frame of the car for opening and closing said dum ing-doors.

The weight of the load thus rests upon these su porting. mechanisms and the hinges of t e doors, and substantially alll upward strain on the hinges or pivotal points of the doorsis prevented. vTo operate .these vibratable or pivoted door-supporting mechanisms, rockshaft mechanisme' is provided having Aarms or levers j clamped thereto, while connectingthe vibratable lever and to the arms on the rock-shafts.

In a dump-car of the class described, the combination of a supportingfframework, a drop-bottom 'therefor composed of a plurality of swinging sections ivotally secured at their inner edges to the iiamework of the. car at each side 'of the longitudinal center', a plurality olE vibratable door-supporting mech- 'anisms pivotally secured in slotted plates on the framework of the car-for operating said swinging sections, rod mechanism. for securing a pluralit of said vibtatable mechanisms together an holding them against laterall displacement, a rock-shaft, and a connectin rod pivotally secured to said vibratab e mechanisms and rock-shaft, substantially as described.
