To all whom) it may concern.-
Be it known that I, TONY ALEXANDER, a citizen pf the United States, residing at Brookhaven, in the county of Lincoln and State .of
' Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful mprovements in Levels, of which the following is 'a specification This invention relates to instruments designed chiefly for ascertaining horizontality the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowl-' edge of the details of construction of the means for effecting the result reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 isa perspective view of a hollow globe or sphere embodying the invention.

The globe or sphere 1 is hollow and preferably formed of glass and is provided with a neck 2 and base 3, the latter bein preferably hollow upon its lower side to hol the neck 2 a short distance from the surface of the support, beam, or frame to which the globular ody may be attached. The globe .1 is filled with a liquid, such as alcohol or spirits, with the exception of a minute space to provide the accustomed air-bubble 4 for indicating the level or other determinate position. A

By reason of the spherical shape of the body the air-bubble presents a rounded appearance and coincides with one or the other of theconcentric circles, so as to accurately indicate the desired position. The indicia are located at the top and sides for designating perpendicular and horizontal lines and may be differently positioned if angles between the vertical and the horizontal are tobe determined. This is 'an'obvious application and may be readily comprehended.
In the modification shown in Fig. each indice has a contrasting color from the body centric circles are formed throu h the colored portion, so as to enable the hub le to be more readily located.
