Description

UR til i 9033 PATENTBD JAN. 30, 1906.
B. M. CANTO.
PISTOL AND REVOLVER SIGHT.
APPLICATION FILED MAY4. 1905.
EMILIO MUJICA CANTO, OF SANTIAGO, CHILE.
PISTOL AND REVOLVER SIGHT- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 30, 1906.
Application filed May 4, 1905. Serial No. 258.917.
To (all whom, it In/(Ly concern:
Be it known that I, EMILIO MUJIoA CANTO, lieutenant colonel in the Chilean Arm a citizen of the Republic of Chile, and a resident of Santiago, Chile, have invented certain new and useful Improvement in Pistol and Revolver Sights, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My present invention relates to improvements in pistol and revolver sights; and the main object of my invention, is the provision of a means whereby the refraction in sighting is entirely dispensed with and the object, no matter how far distant, can be so brought into line, so as to be in a continuous straight line with the line of optic without any refraction \\"hatsocver.
To carry my invention into effect, I provide a means for the sighting of pistols and revolvers so constructed as to provide a continuous straight line the proper distance along the barrel of the same as to give a direct continuous line from the optic nerve to the object aimed at.
T attain these objects, my invention. consists of a new and novel means and method for this purpose, as will presently a pear.
In the accompanying drawings, igure 1 is a side elevation of a revolver equipped with my improved sight, and Fig. 2 is a cross-section through the barrel and sight thereof.
It is a known fact that in sighting revolvers the same have a tendency to shoot high by tossing the muzzle of the revolver upward, and it is therefore to overcome these objections and provide a sight that is practically a continuation of the o tic nerve that I have devised this new an improved construction, as herein shown and described.
tending the full ength thereof is the station- 45 ary strip or sight 5, which is substantially triangular in cross-section, the upper edge forming the apex of the triangle. The sight consists of the two stationary sections 6 and 6, being interrupted or separated by means of a V-shaped slot or recess 7, the slot being not noticeable when the pistol or revolver is being sighted when firing.
I have found by experience that in using a revolver as above described that greater accuracy can be secured than with the sights now in use and that the revolver when fired does not havea tendency to shoot high, as is the case when using revolvers with the sights now on the market.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A pistol or revolver provided with a stationary strip forming a sight and extending the full length of the barrel thereof and interrupted intermediate of its len th.
2. A pistol or revolver havmg stationarily mounted upon the upper portion of the barrel thereof a strip forming a sight the same being triangular in cross-section and interrupted intermediate of its length.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EMILIO MU JIOA CANTO.
