CHARLES F. MONROE, OF MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT.
CON DIMENT-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 5, 1905.
Application filed June 22,1905. Serial No. 266,461. a
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it knownthat I, CHARLEs F. MONROE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Condiment-Holders, of which the following is a'specification.
My invention relates to improvements in condiment-holders; and the object of my improvement is to provide an attractive and convenient article for table use.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my condiment-holder, and Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the same.
.A designates a salt-holder, of glass or other suitable material, the same being formed with a socket 3, that projects upwardly in continuation of the inner Wall of the annular recess which forms the receptacle for the salt. The socketis bottomless and open at the top for receiving and holding a pepper-holder 4, of'
silver or other ware. I prefer to extend the socket 3 considerably above the outer edge 5 of the salt-holder and also to arrange the said 1 socket centrally and the salt-holding receptacle in the form of a surrounding or annular recess that constitutes an open tray near the base of the complete article. The bottomwall of the annular receptacle or tray serves as the foot or base upon which the article rests when placed upon a table or similar support. The pepper-holder, as shown, is readily removable from the socket and is or may be of the ordinary form of perforated-top pepper-pots to be used in the ordinary manner. I have shown both the pepper and salt holders as substantially round in plan .view.
By my improvement the salt and pepper holders are arranged together for convenient access when either or both are wanted and in a simple, compact, neat, and attractive form.
I claim as my invention The herein-described condiment-holder, consisting of a salt-holder in the form of an annular receptacle with its bottom wall forming the foot of the article, and its inner wall extended upwardly above the edge 5 of its outer wall, to form a bottomless elevated socket for the reception of a pepper-holder, substantially as described.
V CHARLES F. MONROE.
