It will thus be seen that by adjusting the nut .16the tension of the coil-spring may be regulated at will to vary the pressure exerted by the .sup orting-bracket: on the extension of ;the "trol ey-pole, while'the frame is prevented 2;.

The scraper 24 is also preferably stam ed from a single piece of metal and is provi ed with a pair of s aced arms 25, adapted to embrace the tro ley-wheel, said arms being pivotally mounted on the axle-bolt and reroo tained in position thereon by a nut 26, en-
aging the threaded end of said bolt. The ee end of the scraper is bent upwardly atapproximately right angles, to the general plane of the body portion to form an angular 1o 5 extension 27, having a recess 28. formed in the end thereof for the reception of the overhead wire or conductor 29, said scraperbeing yieldably supported in contact with the con ductor by a coil-spring 30, carried by the bolt 1 1 o 23 and interposed between saidscraper and the adjacent longitudinal ear of the supporting-bracket. A nut 31 bears against the longitudinal ear of the bracket 8 for securing the bolt 23 in position, While a second nut 32 is threaded on the intermediate portion of said bolt for. regulatin the tension of the coil-spring 30. Attention is here called to the fact that the bolt 1 1 serves as the journal for the trolley-wheel and also as the pivotal support for the scraper, the several parts being retained in position by a single clampingnut 26.
As a means for preventing the trolley-wire from catching on the wheel supporting frame, should the trolley-wheel accidentally jump the overhead conductor, there is provided a guard or shield 33, one end of which is bolted or otherwise rigidly secured to the uppersection of the trolleyole, while its free end extends above the a jacent end of the harp 8 and is provided with a terminal segmental recess 34 to permit free lateral movement of said frame.
The trolley-Wheel may be provided with a lubricator-duct 35, through which oil may be admitted to the journal, and, if desired, a washer 36 may be interposed between the supporting-bracket and the extension of the trolley-p0 latter.
From the foregoing description it is thought that the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood by those skilled in the art, and further description thereof is deemed unnecessary.
Having thus described the invention, what e to prevent excessive wear on the is claimed is 1. The combination with a trolley-pole, of a harp secured to the pole and provided with a longitudinally disposed ear, a trolleywheel journaled in sa1d harp, a scraper pivotally supported on the journal of the trolley-wheel, and a spring interosed between the scraper and ear for yielda ly supporting the former in contact with the conductor.
2. The combination with a trolley-pole, of a harp swiveled on the pole and having a trolley-wheel journaled therein, a scraper pivotally mounted on the journal of said wheel and yieldably supported in contact with the overhead conductor, and a uard or shield secured to the trolley-pole an havin its free end disposed between the harp and scraper.
3. The combination with a trolley-pole, of a harp swiveled on the pole and provided with a longitudinal ear, a trolley-wheel journaled in said harp, a scraper pivotally supported on the journal of said wheel, a bolt connecting said ear and scraper, and a spring carried by the bolt for yieldably supporting the scraper in contact with the overhead conductor.
4. The combination with a trolley-pole provided with an angular extension, of a harp swiveled on the pole and provided with oppositely-disposed erforated ears, a trolley-wheel journaled in said harp, a scraper -pivotally supported on the journal of the trolley-wheel, a threaded bolt secured to the scraper and engaging the perforation on the adjacent ear of the harp, a spring carried by the bolt for yieldably supporting the scraper in contact with the overhead conductor, and a nut engaging the threads on the bolt for adjusting the tension of said spring.
