Be it known that I, DANIEL J. SCHAEFFER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Allendale, in the county of Cambria and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Separable Garment-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in garment-supports, and has for its object to provide a novel form of support which can be used for detachably connecting two garments together.

Another object of this invention is to provide a garment-support which will be extremely simple in construction, strong and durable, and highly eflicient for detachably securing the two garments, attirements, or pieces together.

Brieliy described, my improved garmentsupport comprises two members, which are substantially the same contour. Each member is substantially of a dish form, having a concavity. One of the members is provided with a headed pin, which is adapted to engage in a slot formed in the other member. This construction, together with the details entering into the same, will be hereinafter more fully described.

Referring' to the drawings accompanying this application, like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Figure l is a plan View of one of the members of my improved garment-support. Fig. 2'is a similar view of the other member. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the member illustrated in Fig. l of the drawings. Fig. 4 is a similar View of the member illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings; and Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view of the two members secured together, illustrating' said members as being carried by two garments.

To put my invention into practice, I have employed two members substantially of thev shape illustrated in Figs. l and 2, and the member l is substantially disk shape, which is provided with a concavity 2 of a substantially semispherical form. This oo ncavity forms a raised portion 3, which is provided with a central aperture 4, (see Fig. 3,) and in this raised portion I form a spiral slot 5, which terminates in the aperture 4. The body portion of the disk is provided with a plurality of apertures 6, whereby the member may be secured to a garment.

The member, as designated by the reference-numeral 7, is substantially the same form as the member l, with the exception that centrally of the enlarged portion 3 I provide a pin 8, having a head 9.

In Fig. 5 of the drawingsIhave illustrated two members as being carried by garments lO and ll and the two members locked together. To secure the garment ll to the garment l0, the pin 8 of the member is inserted in the slot 5 and is moved around in said slot until it engages in the aperture 4. It will be observed from Fig. l of the drawings that the end of the slot opposite the aperture 4 is large enough to accommodate the head 9 of the pin and that the slot gradually tapers, whereby as the pin travels around in the same the head 9 of said pin is firmly retained within the enlargement 3 of the member l. As shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings, the concavo-conveX portions abut on their convex sides when the members are engaged with each other, and when in this engaged position the members have to a certain extent a pivoted connection one with the other, allowing sufficient free relative movement to prevent binding. As the head 9 of the pin 8 must be entered in the enlarged outer end of the slot 5, it will beobserved that the two members owing to their suliciently sphereshaped surface may be readily positioned, so as to permit the entry of this headed pin into the slot and the guiding thereof up into the central aperture 4.

It will of course be understood that my improved garment-support can be used in connection with various garments for detachably securing the same together the same as a button and buttonhole, and by employing the two members of my improved support a buttonhole is dispensed with and `the members can be easily and quickly attached to the garments which are to be secured together.

Thile I have herein shown the preferred manner of constructing my improved garment-support, itis obvious that the same may be made of different sizes, and the contour of the concavities of the members may be changed without departing from the general spirit and scope of the invention.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. A garment support, comprising two members having concavo-convex substantially IOO sphere-shaped surfaces abutting on their oonvex sides, one ot' said members being formed with a slot extending to the center of the oonveX surface thereof, the other of said members Carrying a pin projecting from the convex surface thereof and adapted to enter said slot in the other member.

2. In a garment-support, the Combination of two members each having eoneaVo-convex su bstantially sphere-shaped surfaces abutting on their convex sides, one member being formed with a slot having an enlarged outer end, the other of said members carrying on the convex side of its Central portion a headed pin adapted to enter said slot.
