Be it known that I, J OI-IN OHARE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buflalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Racks, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to racks for typeforms; and its object is to provide a durable and compact device of this character arranged to receive forms of diflerent sizes, which are adapted to be held on their edges at points where they can be conveniently reached.

The invention consists of a casing having converging sides which extend upward to a shelf adapted to hold page-forms. Arranged between these side walls and the shelf are vertical partitions of varying heights, forming compartments therebetween for the reception of forms. Spacing devices are arranged within the compartments for holding the faces of the type which are in the forms out of contact with the adjoining partitions.

The invention also consists of the further novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described, and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings I have shown the preferred form of my invention.

In said drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of the rack; and Fig. 2 is a section on line 2 2, Fig. 1.

Referring to the figures by numerals of reference, 1 1 are converging side strips which extend upward to and support a top shelf 2. Converging side walls 3 are secured upon the strips 1, and the lower portions of said strips are connected by a bottom shelf 4, parallel with the shelf 2. Partitions 5 are arranged on the shelf 4 at right angles thereto and extend longitudinally of the casings. Some of these partitions extend upward to the side walls 3, while the partitions at the center of the casing extend the full distance between the shelves 4 and 2. The distance between every two partitions is slightly greater than the thickness of an ordinary type-form, and spacing-blocks are secured on shelf 4, adjacent the various partitions 5, so as to permit forms to be readily inserted between said blocks and the opposite partitions 5, the blocks 6 serving to hold the faces of the type which are in the forms out of contact with the adjoining partition. Forms can be inserted into opposite sides of the casing and when in such positions can be conveniently reached. The shelf 2 can be utilized for stacking page-forms thereon. The casing may be of any proportions desired, and by its use the annoyance and the inconvenience experienced in the use of the ordinary form-racks is dispensed with.

In the foregoing description I have shown the preferred form of my invention; but I do not limit myself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof, and I therefore reserve the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope of my invention.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is- In a device of the class described, a pair of upwardly-converging sides, a top sustained thereby and constituting an upper shelf, a lower shelf connected with the sides adjacent their lower edges, a series of vertical partitions arising from the lower shelf and spaced to produce compartments, some of said partitions contacting at their upper ends with the sides and others with the upper shelf, and a series of spacing-blocks attached to the lower shelf respectively within the separate compartments and each adjacent one of the partitions constituting the side walls of the latter,
