`T0 all whom, t nung/'concerns Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. MATTHEW, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bucyrus, in the county of Crawford and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fusees; and I do herebydeclarethe following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled-,in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to signalingtorches commonly designated a fusee; and my invention consists of certain novel features of combination and construction of elements, the preferred form of materialization whereof will be hereinafter clearly set forth, and eX- emplih'ed inthe claims appended.
The main object of my invention,` among others, is to provide a torch Ior fusee designed -to be used inrailway signaling which will l combine in a single torch the capacity of two or more separate and distinct torches or fusees. Inasmuch as my improved fusee is constructed to give olf diferent-colored lights, each ight burning 'fora definite or specied period of time-as, for instance, it may be arranged to first` give off a red light asa danger-signal, which light will continue to burn for any de siredlength of time, ordinarily five minutes, to be followed by a green light, to last or continue to burn for an additionalperiod of live minutes, more or less, as may be desired. It
