SCREW-NUT SECURER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 793,553, dated June 27, 1905.
Application filed December 27,1904:- Serial No. 238,446. A
To (all whom, it 7711141 concern:
Be it known that I, FRANs VAN TIIIEL, a subject of the Queen of the Netherlands, and a resident at Helmond,Veesstraat, Netherlands, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Screw-Nut Securers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention in question is a nut-securer which offers advantages, owing to its simple construction.
Figure 1 of the drawings represents a top View of the securer for nuts placed at a short distance from each other; Fig. 2, a side view of the same; Fig. 3, a top View of another form of the securer for nuts having a greater space between them; Fig. 4:, a side view of the same, and Fig. 5 the nut-securer applied to a fish-joint of a rail.
The nut-securer consists of a plate (1 on which the catch in the form of a resilient steel bar 7) or the like is fastened in a piece f,
screw-nut (Z, thus securing it. To liberate a nut held fast in this manner, a pin 8 in the plate under the steel bar 7) is turned by means of a key or the like and the bar 6 is raised.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A nut-lock consisting of an ordinary screwbolt and a nut having projecting teeth at the base of the sidesurfaces, of a plate a perforated to register with the holes in the fish-plate and rail ends, of a spring I) having one end secured to said plate a and the other end adapted to engage the teeth of the nut, and of a revoluble pin .9, turning in holes of plate a, said pin having a flat part to allow of the spring engaging the teeth, and having a round part to hold said spring out of engagement with the teeth, substantially as described.
