TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Beit known that I, C. OJHANSEN, of Memphis, in the county of Shelby, and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and useful Improvement inBeveLSqum-es; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,

clear, and exact description thereof, whichwill enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

The nature oflmy invention relates to an improvement in bevel-squares for joiners use, and consists in constructing them withtwo stocks, pivoted to a blade near its centre, and providing the said stocks with links, pivoted to the same, 'at about their centres, in the direction of their length, the ether-ends of the said links being i joined to athumb-screw, which slides in a central slot in the end of the blade, which is within the angle formed on' the said stocks,'the said blade being provided with a scale, on which the sliding head of the set-screw may he set, bytightening up the said screw, at certain points, to mark the proper angles for figures having 'various numbers of sides.

On reference to the accompanying drawings-'- Figure 1 represents a plan of my' improved tool, and Figure 2 an edge view of the same;

' arranged to indicate the proper angles of the stocks with each other, for marking the sides of any figure having regular sides of any number from three to sixteen. To adjust it to the angle for a figure of any given number within the range specified, the head of the screw D is moved on the scale to the line indicated by the figure corresponding with the givennumber of sides of the required figure. When the set-screw-is tightened up, and the parts secured on that angle, it may also be adjusted to any other angle, as ordinary bevels are. To

use it as a right-angled square, theset-scrcw is moved inward until the stocks A A are brought into a right line,

when the set-screw is tightenedup, to hold theinin that position.

Having thus fully described my improvements, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The bevel-square, constructed as described, and consisting of the graduated plate B, longitudinally slotted, the pivoted arms A, links 0, and slidingclamp-nut D, all arranged to operate substantially as herein shown and described..
